Bungie to make more Halo 3 content

Developer says it definitely won't be finishing the fight with ODST
Bungie's revealed that it has plans to produce more Halo 3 content, or support ODST for a while at least.

That's despite previously saying that it's viewing ODST, the stealth-orientated spin off of Master Chief's trilogy, "as the final exclamation point in our ongoing efforts to extend the Halo 3 experience".

It doesn't sound like the developer has small plans for the title either, saying it'll likely be producing Halo 3 goodness for another couple of years.

"Halo 3 took two and a half years to make, and we're still working on it," producer Allen Murray told Joystiq. "We'll probably be working on it for two more years."

Halo 3 is easily one of my favourite Games this generation, the fact that I continue to go back to it, time and time again is testament to that.

So if Bungie want to give me more Halo 3 goodness, im not going to complain.

I was playing this the other night.

It doesn't matter how many new maps come out whenever I do matchmaking the same two maps always come up per playlist.

The other night it was Narrows or Boundless, everytime we vetoed one we got the other. I don't understand how the same map can come up everytime.

I really can't stand either map either. It seems the same for every playlist, there seems to be a maximum of four maps for each one.

I want Halo 4, Bungie. Using a brand new engine would be nice.

Anything Halo related is good news for me...anything Halo 3 related is fantastic, best on-line, multi-player experience around on console, bring it on!!
Tonyb on 26 Mar '09
Good news, but I agree with ledickolas.

I love playing Big Team Slayer (on Sandtrap), but the chances of slayer coming up on Social Big Team seem to be so remote these days, around the 20-30% mark. It's almost always capture the flag, bombs or territories - and it's the same response from most people every time, a massive groan. Why Bungie force you to play games you have no interest in, in the hope of getting a good one, I can't understand. Call Of Duty doesn't punish you in this way.

So if you're going to keep on updating Halo 3, Bungie, please give us a Social Big Team Slayer!

*Yawn*... new IP please.
Zonf on 26 Mar '09
I agree the maps do come up far too often, it seems like Valhalla comes up almost every game I play on Big Team. Don’t mind the other game variants though, they can be quite fun. Not that many people seem to play Big Team any more though, compared to what it was anyway…

And why yawn? What’s wrong with still supporting a game so many people play online? It’s great fan service if you ask me. They have already said they’re working on three new projects at the same time anyway.

*Yawn*... new IP please.

Yeah why would bungie abandon Halo3 when it is clearly still one of the most loved and played online games currently available on Live and still a guaranteed income bringer?

And as conkers says, they have and are working on a number of new projects so just wait for the announcement which I believe that even bungie themselves are very excited about. Very Happy

Good. I do hope they make some more single player content. I loved the Halo games(apart from Halo Wars - not big on RTS) so looking forward to some more content.
sonic_uk on 26 Mar '09
I hope whatever they release is worth the Microsoft points spent on it. In my opinion out of the maps released 80% are s**t and even after that I'm stuck playing the same 2 maps for a week anyway and it left me feeling that I had wasted my money purchasing the map packs. I look forward to any content that adds to the campaign
Mr S0L0 D0L0 on 28 Mar '09
I agree with D0L0. The majority of the new maps are terrible.

I don't understand Halo 3. Its fun for about 20 minutes, and i'm semi-decent at the game, but after that it becomes mind-numbingly boring. Partly because its always the same maps, but also because gameplay becomes so repetitive. The Gears of War and CoD franchises don't bore me anywhere near as much.

Its also littered with dirty tactics because of the map structure, weapon placement, weapon over-powering etc...., much more so than the previously 2 mentioned franchises.
