The first PAL region Nintendo DSi Shop has gone live, thanks to those living-in-the-future Australians who're now downloading new firmware.

The 1.3A version DSi software is required to access the Shop, and once you're online it's been revealed that PAL owners receive 1000 free Nintendo DSi Points to spend on Nintendo goodies - but it's not going to buy you much. Or anything.

The day one DSi Shop line-up is as follows, thanks to Vooks:

Erm...bit empty ain't it? I mean if you are going to launch a big new portable store, probably a good idea to actually put something in it that early adopters will want.
I mean how hard could a couple of demos or a handle of SNES virtual console downloads could of been.

When I went to Japan and they had DS Download stations in Electric Town, you could download a good selection of demo games that you could download and play. They only lasted until you powered down the system but that was 2007 FFS!

The whole DSi shop just seems like they are playing catch-up to Sony's PSP Store which is actually not bad now. It has quite a few full games to download as well as PSP demos and PS1 games.
I think that the difference is that when Sony launched the PSP Store there was actually about 5 or 6 PS1 games, a few PSP full games and a nice little range of Demos.

Well it will apparently be updated weekly, I know it seems a bit empty but it means you can get everything if you wanted to(you'd need to get a 1000 point card) of course it might be because they want some of their download games to get reviewed but launching more...

Perhaps when the retails versions are out there they may do a Friday update?

With the 1000 DSi points that come free you can buy some things straight away which is good, but i thought these were now meant to be Nintendo points to be used in both the Wii and DSi stores??

We have download stations too, although they are rarely updated and very few stores power them up any more!

Nar, you get a 1000 free points when you access the DSi store not in the shop you buy it, the top up cards will be for both DSi and Wii.
