MMO dev Turbine has responded to this morning's rumours that Lord of the Rings Online is headed to Xbox 360.
Speaking to CVG, a company spokesperson confirmed that it's working on an MMO for "next-generation consoles", but declined to comment on the LoTRO rumours... and then did anyway.
"We won't comment on rumors but it's no secret that we've been deep in development for some time on an MMO for the next-generation consoles.
"While I won't discuss specific titles, I will confirm that we are incredibly excited about what we have accomplished and strongly believe that the console market is ready for the massively connected social gaming experience that Turbine provides.
"The first parties share this belief and have been great partners to work with as we get ready for the next major evolution of the platform."
This morning's report also claimed that Microsoft is working on an MMO model for Xbox Live.
It's all well and good, but what about the fees? I won't play any game that has monthly charges now and obviously XBL has an ongoing fee already.
They could try charging in MS points or something, but that'd be even more retarded.
Micro-transactions. I'd accept that. That way, people can dip in and out as they choose without a fee making them feel obliged, and hardcore players can treat it like an ongoing fee and buy stuff to make them t3h uber (or whatever the kids call it these days).
i dont see them bringing mmo to the console market without subscriptions, i would like to see a low subscription with micro transactions on top and them being paid for by ms points instead of by credit or debit card, but thats just my paranoia lol.
