Entire Beatles catalogue re-mastered

To launch alongside The Beatles: Rock Band
Apple will release the entire Beatles catalogue, digitally re-mastered, on CD worldwide on September 9, 2009, the same date as the launch of The Beatles: Rock Band game.

A boxed set will comprise 12 Beatles albums in stereo, plus Magical Mystery Tour and Past Masters. Each album will come with original UK album art, while limited editions will feature documentary extras too.

Another boxed set, The Beatles in Mono, will include all of the Beatles recordings that were mixed for a mono release. It will contain ten of the albums with their original mono mixes, plus two further discs of mono masters.

The new Beatles CD sets will be releasing alongside Harmonix's The Beatles: Rock Band for PS3, 360 and Wii.

The game's been creatively conceived with input from Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, as well as Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison (the widow of George Harrison), while Giles Martin, the co-producer of The Beatles Love project, will serve as music producer on the game.

I don't actually play this game, nor have any interest to be honest, but I'm certainly not here to say anything bad about it. Different games suit different people. What I do want to say is this... what an excellent bit of news! As a Beatles fan of old I think this is an excellent way for gamers who'd otherwise never have any interest in The Beatles to become familiar with the music that inevitably may have influence the bands they like, or had an effect on the bands that have influenced todays music!

I don't have rock band and I'm not going to splash out on it now. I have all the albums on CD anyway but the boxset still intrigues me - how much will it cost though? That's the question.

well i already have all the albums on CD,along with a first pressing of let it be album when it was known as 'Get Back'..(and had the Blue Albums cover)

but still the added documentaries are a good pull, but then the average Beatle fan will prolly have all the footage anyway

and yeah i will have to turn to the dark side(Rock Band) for this game, looking forward to it,i just hope they have a decent amount of songs

Is this... videogame news? Heh. I love the Beatles though.

I like how they've waited until the format is almost dead to release decent CD versions of their albums! If they'd done it a few years ago I might have bought a few. Wish they would put out some nice 180g vinyl reissues instead...
