Codies details TWO F1 games

One this year on Wii and PSP, another next year on PS3 and 360
We knew Codemasters was working on the next F1 game, but it turns out it's actually working on two.

According to the original announcement Codies has been working on a Formula 1 game on all formats for release next year, since it acquired the official F1 licence in early 2008.

Wii and PSP gamers will, however, be treated to some F1 action this year as the developer has reportedly revealed plans to put out an F1 2009 game on those platforms, followed by a separate F1 2010 game next year for PS3 and 360.

F1 2009 will feature all of this year's teams and tracks, all the new regulations and will, of course, be the first game to feature current F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton. Codies also promises "new standards for immersion and authenticity" for a Wii racer, with full-season and arcade modes, along with multiplayer options.

F1 2010 will take full advantage of PSN and Xbox Live when it hits next year, reports Autosport. That's all on that one.

F1 big man Bernie Ecclestone said: "We're working very closely together on the upcoming Formula 1 titles and are very impressed with what we have seen."

Jenson Button added: "F1 computer games and circuit simulations can be invaluable for racing drivers so it's great news that our fans will also be able to experience the BGP 001 through this game."

I hope that Codies F1 game works well with steering wheels. Up till now, all Codies racers (inc. DIRT and GRID) have sucked using the wheel. It seems that the controls are far too twitchy and you have to bugger about changing the wheel settings, of which are next to useless.

Fingers crossed.

Hopefully we'll see them take some inspiration from the Geoff Crammond GP games.

MS did a really good job of making their FF wheel for the 360. Feels excellent in Forza 2. Like you say, it could be a big mistake for Codemasters to not put much time and effort into making these work well, not just on the 360 but across all platforms.

Ive been waiting for this since codies got the license last year. Another year of waiting wont be to much fun, I guess race pro and the new forza will have to keep me busy.

Please codies dont mess this up. And if possible stick some vintage cars in too.

Ooooooh - GP Legends-style? That'd be interesting. Doubt it, though, seeing as it's called F1 2010.

Been waiting for a proper F1 game for years. I mean how hard can it be, round, round, round, round again. the previous games have always left me cold. I want to feel a proper sense of speed, without having to get in a car, and have pc plod winging in me ear. I want skilled overtaking, huge pileups, but above all I just want to feel what it's like to drive an F1 car, but in virtual form. If they can't do it, give the licence to the burnout team. boooom Razz

I do hope they don't use the EA model of sports games and release a new one each year.

One release with DLC for the 2011 season and a superior release in 2012 is what they should really be doing.

Crap, I thought this was coming out sometime in the next couple of months.

Did they only recently decide to put it back to next year?, anytime I saw it mentioned in the mags it was called F1 2009.

F1 2009 will be out in the Autumn for Wii and PSP, F1 2010 will be out for PS3, 360 and PC mid next year.
