Famed Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto has been voted the 42nd most influential person in the world in the latest Time 100 online poll.
The Mario, Donkey Kong and Zelda creator Miyamoto placed first last year.
In its latest rankings, the site praised the 56-year-old for last year's Nintendo Wii release Wii Fit, but also said that the console needed better games.
Game designer Will Wright also took 147th place. The site praised sales of Wright's Spore but also said it hadn't been as well received as The Sims franchise.
The overall winner of the title was someone called 'moot' (real name Christopher Poole), a 21-year-old college student who founded image-based bulletin board and online community portal 4chan.org.
Poole received 16,794,368 votes to comfortably beat the likes of Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin and Oprah Winfrey.
i have alot of love and respect for this man. he has given me the best gaming experiences since i was very young. i'll never forget all my gaming sessions as a tiny lad, all fuelled by miyamoto san. hell, if he had only made pikmin, he would still be amazing... add mario, zelda, f-zero, donkey kong, star fox etc...
the man is the god of games, i'm playing another of his masterpieces right now (pikmin 2) and it brings me back to the way i felt when i first played the first one. i love the feeling i get when i play games he makes, knowing that i'm in safe hands and that each moment will be engrained in my head forever.
At least Shigeru Miyamoto got a worthy mention. Although 'Hannah Montana' pipped him to 41. But considering 'Oprah' is 98, Shiggsy done well to get in an American poll.
Where was John Lasseter of Pixar? His films and characters have a big influance over this generation. He is the new Walt Disney!
TIME magazine is written by a bunch of pretentious w****rs. In their "amorality" section of "10 Ideas that are changing the world" they claimed that the British people were all "snaggletoothed" and "famously unconcerned with their personal appearence".
That's like claiming all Americans are fat, stupid, ignorant, insular, fanatical conservative Christians.
I'll let someone else add the "oh wait" to the end of that sentence.
