New Tomb Raider movie gets young Lara

Out with the old...
Terminator Salvation producer Dan Lin has revealed that the next Tomb Raider film will star a young Lara Croft. Probably not that young though.

Apparently the idea is to 'reboot' the movie franchise like we've seen with Batman Begins and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

"It's a great origin story that we're going to tell," says Lin, who also suggests the next Tomb Raider movie will be "very character-oriented" as he feels both the games and the films swung too much towards action.

The games focused too much on action? There's nothing wrong with the games, the movie will be s**t.

Honestly, listen to yourselves. Single minded perverts.

And the correct expression is: Giggedy giggedy goo!!!
MrPirtniw on 20 May '09
holly valance could do it...after dead or alive...she cando anything....lol
purple101 on 20 May '09
I think it will be about showing the life of a young Lara Croft, watching her grow up and become a highly skilled bottom kicking sexy tomb raider. I thought the other movies were rubbish but I think this one might turn out to be pretty decent.
Squall5005 on 20 May '09
Hayden Panettiere just dye "the blonde" to a brunette. That would rule.
alano0031 on 20 May '09
Well, if this movie is going to be character-oriented, they are going to need an actress that can act. And I don't think Megan Fox has that little trick down yet. Wink

But who's gonna go to see this film to judge her acting ability? Razz
Squall5005 on 20 May '09
I know...why not have an English actress play an English character in a movie...for a change!!!

How about Rhona Mitra??? she got the norks for it!!!

Shes too old isnt she? Conceding this is meant to be a young lara croft.

P.S Im basing this on my educated guess that shes the actress from ali g in da house
alano0031 on 20 May '09
yeah fair do's...she's about 32 I think.

Did I mention that I love her lol
seandog1 on 20 May '09
She is stunning like u said, but the main problem i forsee is that there are very few young actresses that I believe could do a good character study. So mayb they might have to gamble on some unknown actress to do it.
alano0031 on 20 May '09
How about Johnny Vegas? (ugh!!).
flash501 on 20 May '09
How about Johnny Vegas? (ugh!!).

Nah.. He's been losing weight I've noticed. His breasts arn't big enough any more.
Squall5005 on 20 May '09
interesting. How about joe brand.
WHERESMYMONKEY on 20 May '09
Wasn't Rhona Mitra actually the model for Lara Croft for a while?
SpoonyRedMage on 20 May '09
Dame Thora Hurd, she's proper aristocristy she is.

Yes she was http://www.comicbookhotties.com/models/tomb-raider-picture.asp

but if they are going for say a younger LC in her late teens early 20's then I don't think she would be right for this film. Not that I would turn Rhona down mind. Wink
lonewolf2002 on 20 May '09
Someone else has already touched upon it, but why not go for a relatively unknown British actress?
Much rather see some new talent getting a chance at the big time rather than go for the everyday names.

Ah yes... The one scene in "Hollow Man" worth watching! Wink

Too dead.

I continue to think Keira Knightley is the only girl who can bring a brain as well as looks to Lara. Do you really want another mindless, confused, Charlie's Angels in-the-temple action film? And yes, I too think Angelina Jolie is overrated.

Keira knightley would be no good, Lara Croft has breasts! Laughing
spooney100 on 20 May '09
Young Lara? FFS. Why is Hollywood so scared of putting a decent female lead in a decent action flick? Who the feck wants to see a Tomb Raider character movie?! I bet we end up with Lara Croft for the Twilight generation. And an 'origins' storyline just means they've run out of ideas (er, except they didn't have any to begin with).

Well unless they are going to make it about a 10 year old Lara that is. ShockedLaughing

Sorry Keira and her fans (actually I think Keira is pretty damn hot)
