"The film will apparently be a character-driven action flick that plays out as an origin story for Miss Croft," says OXM. "A reboot featuring a younger Lara means a new star, so we've drawn up a shortlist of potential candidates for the job and why they'd be perfect for the role."

Well what do you know, Eliza Dushku IS in the list! Michelle Ryan does seem to be the obvious choice, and she was brilliant in the terrible Bionic Woman. It's a toss up between the two.
is this a real list of the contenders for the new lara croft? because if it is half of those women couldnt pass for a teenager, i mean it is suposed to be an origins story of lara right?.
Anyway theres 3 max there that could pull off lara in looks, Michelle Ryan is the obvious choice followed by Rhona Mitra i mean this women was lara croft for a year or so back in the 90's as a model, and last but not least Lena Headly but i think shes probably to old to play the young lara.
If this is based on votes i can see megan fox winning it which sucks because although she is totally fit, she just aint lara croft material.

To be quite honest I would suggest they get a new actor fresh out of acting school. At least they can then work them into the role and they will be remembered purely for that film than anything else. Oh and them being British is a big must. Like with a really traditional British accent. That would be awesome.
Out of that lameass list, I'd have to go with Michelle Ryan, shes British (the actress to play Lara has to be British) and she certainly has the 'qualifications'. But that list was pretty lame, why wasn't Gemma Arterton there, she's British, is a great actress and has a great figure and looks and her accent fits perfectly.
A decent British accent is a must, so that's half of those proposals out right away. Eliza frickin Dushku? Quite possibly one of the world's worst actresses? And Michelle Ryan was terrible, IMO, in Doctor Who's recent special as Lara, err, I mean, Lady Christina.

yeah but that whole special was terrible. a flying f**king bus? and this show wins awards? still Michelles got a cracking set of jubblies so she's half way towards Lara and being english gives her the other half.
Technically Michelle Ryan has already played Lara Croft in the Dr Who Easter special - or at least a thinly veiled version of her. Watch that if you want to see if she'd be any good.
