Rogue Squadron Wii canned?

Star Wars game named in ex-Factor 5 employees' lawsuit
A new instalment in the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron series has seemingly been named for Wii - and presumably cancelled - in a lawsuit by ex-Factor 5 employees.

A number of staff laid off by the now-dead company have launched a legal attack on Factor 5's founders, whom are alleged to have fraudulently transferred assets - including Rogue Squadron for Wii - to another company before declaring bankruptcy, in order to avoid paying its employees.

"We allege in the suit that Factor 5 and its three founders fraudulently transferred assets, including source code and other intellectual property to Blue Harvest, which is now known as White Harvest," James Smith, a lawyer representing the employees, told the MIJ.

Smith said that work transferred to 'White Harvest' included all progress made on the unannounced Wii entry in the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron series.

The lawsuit lists 69 claims for unpaid wages totalling over $900,000.

Perhaps, along with the mythical current-gen Star Wars: Battlefront entry, Wii Rogue Squadron is now in construction at another game developer's battlestation. Otherwise this is just a cruel heads-up on a potentially top game we'll never get to play.

Someone make it so! How many more potentially brilliant games will we be denied? Release the N64 game and faux-sequel Battle For Naboo on Wii Virtual Console please! And improve Rogue's draw distance while you're at it, Nintendo. You may even be able to help pay all those wages!

The graphics on the cube versions are still absolutely gorgeous. Would love to see this finished... and while they're at it, let them do a Pilotwings!

If this doesn't get made I'd rather not have heard about this...

As much as I love my Wii, why does that GameCube screenshot look better than every other Wii game released?! - I'm far from a graphics tart and I'm happy if something looks like dog-s**t so long as it plays brilliantly, but it does make you realise that the Wii has been far from pushed up till now.

theres a few exceptions. But i'd have to agree with you that the wii hasn't been pushed at all with its graphical power. Its twice as powerful as the Cube was and that had some of the best graphics of last gen.

Back on topic. 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it can't be true! IT CAn't BE!

This was a 'Cube launch title as well! (and to this day my favourite game on the system)

But yeah, CVG why report this? Don't you know that ignorance is bliss? Now I know that Rogue Squadron Wii existed and was canned. I was happier without knowing that!

Well to be fair all we know is that its been sold away, so its in the hands of another company, it still could be released, just not under the name of Factor 5... I think anyway. Confused
