Angelina Jolie is reportedly "furious" at rumours that she will not be reprising her role as Lara Croft in the next Tomb Raider film, and the part will instead be offered to Transformers starlet (and all-round FITTY) Megan Fox.
According to a Sun source, Angelina isn't a fan of the Transformers movies and believes Megan won't do the Lara Croft character "justice".
"She's also annoyed because she thinks Megan copies everything from her, from her tattoos to her style," the source says. Meeeow.
The new film, according to executive producer Dan lin, is an "origin story" starring a younger Lara, with plenty of "character-driven action".
The Sun source said: "Angie was intent on reprising her role. She feels it's something she helped define and feels robbed that it looks likely to be handed to someone who she considers less capable than her."
We'd be quite happy with both, to be honest. Mother AND daughter.
Pretty sure it's because she's just too old for the character now. I know mid-30s is hardly decrepit, but if the makers want someone younger then that's their prerogative. Still never got the obsession with Angelina though.
Plus, Megan is hot stuff at the moment. She's a rising star. And has amazing eyes. Doesn't relate to Lara at all, but I don't care, they are stunning

I'm no fan of either really. As a matter of fact, I can't stand Jolie. She's way overrated in her looks and as an actress. The same goes for Fox too, though out of the two, I'd probably go for her.

"Mother AND Daughter"? Angelina's only 9 years older than Fox. IMO Angelina is the perfect age to play Croft again, the character has always been mature. Those 16y/o Lara's in the games took everything away from what it was all about.

The fact The Sun attracts readers who've apparently never heard of capital letters pretty much says it all (hint: when starting a sentence or typing a noun, hold down the SHIFT key for the first letter).
I dont want either in a new Tomb Raider film. As nice as they are I'd prefer it if they got an English actress who is beautiful and doesnt have to fake an English accent.

I agree with the 'get a British actress' opinion. But the simple truth is all that matters in the American movie industry is that it makes loads of money and opens the doors for more sequels. Replacing Jolie with a new, younger actress makes sense, in business terms. As with Bond, Batman, etc, it gives the film makers a chance to distance themselves from the past and try a slightly different direction; revamped and repackaged. If this Fox actress gets the role within two or three movies she'll also end up being replaced by a younger actress, and so the formula continues. Although this story is reported in The Sun and may not be true, the fact remains Angelina Jolie only has a lease on the character and was always going to be replaced as enough money was made to warrant sequels. What Tomb Raider needs more than anything is a decent script writer and director, or better still, just to disappear completely!
Megan Fox? She's ok, but I can NEVER forgive her for appearing in Transformers 2: Rise of the Lame Sex Comedy.
As for the Sun, it's one of those 'read it if its there' things. The butchering they do on certain quotes should be illegal (check out Parkys comments on Jade Goody in the Sun and then compare them to the actual interview in the Radio Times-shocking), and they're obsessed with 'campaigns'. If its not sack Russell Brand, its make Paedos into sex offender sandwiches or paint every member of the armed forces gold and place them on a diamond pedestal.
Charlie Brooker got it right on Newswipe when he basically said that due to the internet newspapers are as defunct as VHS tapes, and are desperately scrabbling for anything that sells them, true/classy or not. The last ever Sun will have Emma Watsons sixteen year old daughter getting out of a cab, while a seedy camera man practically rapes her with a camera lens under her skirt.

I realise lara croft is attached to this story, but who gives a sh*t. This has nothing to do with games really. CVG is probably comparable to the sun lately, with its fanboy baiting sensationalist articles (i.e Sony chief propaganda officer says xbox is rubbish! and vice versa) and now celebrity news feeds. well, there's been.. hmmm 12,000 Tomb Raider games now.. or was that Army Men? Sorry Angie, but look what happened to the most recent Indiana Jones film. Ford is a great actor, but he's also a bit old. Besides, Angie is super-wealthy, so who gives a crap? I still thing her best performance was in "Girl.. Interrupted." All downhill from there.
Megan Fox is too up herself. She looks good and she knows it and is using that to her advantage.
