FIFA 10: First gameplay footage

First glimpse at EA's fancy new footy tech
This is the first gameplay footage of FIFA 10, EA's next footy effort packing all of that juicy new tech it talked about early last month.

It's only a short trailer, apparently all actual gameplay footage, and it looks really bloody nice. Slow motion slide tackles, furry grass and realistic ball physics are all present and correct.

Watch tons of other great game videos in HD over on our video channel!

According to EA it "features core gameplay refinements based on responsiveness and intelligence, plus a completely overhauled Manager Mode that includes more than 50 major improvements."

Should be good. Watch this space for more soon.

Is it just me, or does that look identical to Fifa 09? not a bad thing, but i was expecting more?? Will be interesting to see the final game stack up.. i wonder if you will still be able to score wonder goals with defenders and the like?!?

Now i need some PES10 gameplay footage to see what thats looking like (hoping for a total reboot from this years tame effort).

i think we'll see just a few tweaks to Fifa this year as thats all it really needs.
wouldn't hold out for a reboot of PES though. all they seem to be focusing on is trying to get Lionel Messi looking like himself. it'll probably still be full of the scripted play that has plagued the series for years now.
and to think up until 2 years ago i hadn't touched a fifa title since 99. PES all the way until that first horrid PS3 effort.

I cant see E messing this up, Fifa 09 was head and shoulders above pes and i expect the same next year. id like to see a few changes made though, i think that the odd shot from the half way line should occasionally go in or at least on target (from any player), just adds an extra spice to the gameplay, also make freekicks a bit easier to score.

As for manager mode, id like to see a return to the fifa 05 mode, where you can only pick a lower team to start with and as you improve you get better offers from better teams, that was so much better than the current mode.

i've seen tons of them going in. do you have your shooting settings at semi? me and my mates always try to score from kick off, hit the bar and have a few tipped over the bar nearly every night.

To be fair, it's always going to be hard telling one FIFA game apart from the one that came out the year before from a simple trailer.

I think it looked good, nothing amazing, but then, there's so little to go from.

ive been a long time pes fan but i must admit fifa 09 was a better game with everything taken into account but EA still hasnt learned that every player should not be able to score wonder goals.

now why would you want there to be more goals from the halfway line? i want a good sim and by doing that and/or continuing with how it is i will still relate fifa to the older games which were much more arcady. EA still has a lot to learn from konami abt player ability etc. in my opinion.

and can you plz add some weight to the ball

I've never even considered changing the shooting settings - no wonder it took me so long to get the 'Screamer' achievement!

I've not experienced this myself (I actually don't seem to play it much online), but I had a friend tell me that they'd played a game where their opponent literally peppered the goal from long-range the whole game.

I was a huge PES fan (going back to the ISS days), but I absolutely love '09. This game really only needs some very slight tweaks this year - it's fantastic already. The 360 degree control sounds like a great addition....oh, and I agree - add some weight to the ball.

That could easily pass for the 09 version but I don't blame them. Don't fix it if it ain't wrong. I'm a PES man normally but 09 was the year of Fifa (they got their eventually!). I do expect PES to step up their game but with Fifa 09 being way better it looks like 2010 is going to be Fifa again, few tweaks and the added 360 control will get me getting Fifa again.

I don't think that's what I would call gameplay footage, unless you count watching replays as gameplay.

Looks exactly the same, I guess its just going to be an update on player transfers, kits and maybe a few new stadiums.
