Splinter Cell: Conviction is 12 hours long

On normal mode at least, director reveals
Splinter Cell: Conviction's creative director, Maxime Beland has revealed that it's possible to complete Sam Fisher's moody new adventure in around 12 hours, which sound fair enough to us.

"I want people to play my games and finish them," Beland told OXM. "We're going to ship with difficulty levels, at least a normal mode and realistic mode - like we did on Rainbow Six Vegas.

"And realistic is going to be really fucking hard," he continued. "You're going to need stealth, two bullets is going to kill you, the enemies are going to be super-lethal.

"And then we're going to have the normal mode for normal gamers, that are going to spend 12 hours playing our game and not 30 because they're dying all the time."

I think I'll work my way up from normal to realistic. I haven't played a Splinter Cell game for a while, so I'll need to practice.

Let's be fair, he's generalising here. Clearly isn't stating 'This game is 12 hours long on normal'
dremorack on 2 Jul '09
I just hope to God this game actually has stealth, and isn't all auto-aimed shooting like the E3 demo seemed to show.
flameswordsman on 2 Jul '09
Im really looking forward to this Game, Ive read a few previews and everything coming out of them seems very positive.

Sam is back and a Bad Ass at that! Happy Days!
StonecoldMC on 2 Jul '09
sooooooo cant wait for this game, looks amazing, ill be replayin the old splinter cell games on xbox and double agent on 360 soon
Miss_Wacy on 2 Jul '09
12 hours is just about right. Nothing worse than a game that just drags on and you don't finish it.
Zero_Cool on 2 Jul '09
The aiming system looks interesting, remember the change of direction the Resident Evil 4 took and that worked well for the franchise, hopefully this will do the same.

Posts on the forums get filtered but this gets put in the article? For shame (Of course I edited it to show the full word in my post).

What Sony exclusive?
Black Mantis on 2 Jul '09
Realistic sounds like my cup of tea, a proper stealth game.
DAEDALUS79 on 2 Jul '09
Just like Miss Wacy said, I too will be going back to Cells of Yore. I actually rebought Double Agent especially. Smile
FiltyMonkey on 2 Jul '09
Realistic for me please. I always start new games on Hard to make that first play through them last longer.
Little Moth on 2 Jul '09
i sooo hope this comes out for the PS3 coz i wanna get it on both the 360 and PS3. it looks well amazin ive been waitin for this scince they anounced it like 3 years ago

Yes, I don't like the auto aimed shooting either, it has turned me off to this title. I really love the SC series too, it's just that I don't think auto aim has any place in it.

tbh 12 hours is a good length for a video game like this!
unless its a massive free roaming, open world RPG title like oblivion, fallout 3, sacred 2 etc or a title like GTA etc then i think this is just about right!

What Sony exclusive?

quantum
god of war 3
heavy rain
and now looks like GT5 is back to.
sonys got a bad habit of announcing things to early.
like theve gone and announced FF14 when 13 and V13 is not out and wont be for atleast another 8 months.
or home.
or KZ2
or haze..
point being DONT ANNOUNCE SOMETHING TILL ITS READY.
dont announce it untill you have a solid date in mind, not a rough impossiable guess.
how long have they been working on GT5 and its STILL has no date where forza 3 is announced and out 4 months later.
microsoft allways do that and its a stroke of genious.
they announce games at E3 for that year, i want to know about games i can play THIS year not in 2012.
blind_fools on 3 Jul '09
Why do people keep complaining about the mark and execute mechanic? You don't have to use it y'know, you can just shoot people normally too. Are you concerned that you lack the self control not to use it if it's there?
DancingOmelette on 3 Jul '09
@ blind_fools, that's a rather apt name you have there, very suitable for you. Splinter Cell was a Microsoft exclusive to begin with, on the original Xbox. It was ported to PS2 about a year later. To me, I see no exclusive being lost there.. Think through your posts in future.

I havent read much on this, but i was wondering if anyone heard about the co-op coming back for this one. And i dont mean the crappy double agent version on the original xbox. I loved the co-op form chaos theory. I was sad to see it was not with double agent on the 360.

and where did i mention SPC?
i was talking about sony exclusives since when is SPC a sony exclusive?
looks like you need to take your own advice buddy Rolling Eyes
blind_fools on 4 Jul '09
Yeah, he's not complaining about Splinter Cell, he's just being a tit and going on about a completely unconnected and irrelevant game in this thread. The exclusive he's on about is heavy rain. He also seems to be under the impression that Sony develops every game that comes out on the PS3. Just because they made the console doesn't mean they're responsible for all the games and announcements "buddy".
