Here's an awesome seven minutes of actual-us-playing-in-game-footage recorded from the Left 4 Dead 2 press demo we hammered yesterday.
The footage has us showing up less skilful Journalists in one of the second game's about-to-become-legendary finales.
As you will see, the conclusions are no longer about simply defending a corner until help arrives. Instead this final act has us battling the horde across a massive bridge, in a desperate attempt to reach the military chopper at the end.
You'll see new characters, new weapons, zombie dismemberment and one of the new special infected, the 'charger', in action.
I know a lot of people complain about this, but CVG, sort out your videos! All your videos, for me, continually flash video image for a second or two, replaced by a white screen for two or three seconds. I don't have any issues watching videos any where else on the net.
of course they are hiding stuff. i asked Chet how they were implementing the new director and he told me he couldnt say yet. This is one of the most secretive gaming companies in the world and you complain that you arent told a bit.
Does look like good fun to be honest, although I would agree where is the stuff that made dlc a no-go???? As much as I hate to admit it and feel they are unscrupulious in the timing of sequel and lack of l4d 1 dlc, I will still buy this on day one>>>
same here. I do feel annoyed. But the game looks like something i want to get. Although i can't see anything we can't make on l4d1 with the SDK. who knows? maybe this time of gauntlet style survival with make its way to community packs pretty sharpish.
Maybe there would be a mod replicating the maps of l4d2 just out spite.
Now valve, if you could just bundle l4d2 with hl2 ep3 portal 2 like you did for the orange box, i would be very happy man.
The fact is, this looks essentially like a cut and paste job of L4D with some fpsbanana skins thrown in to replace the original, much nicer looking, weapon skins. If the sdk was actually finished at some point I'm also pretty sure a map like this would of been released already.
I think everyone should wait until they play it before judging if it would of been possible, nay more suitable as DLC for the first one... I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by how much is different...
Or just follow other people opinions and headlines... your choice.
Okay this is when its okay to shoot one of your teammates. When they do like the guy in the 3rd video did & got every body killed. You shoot him so you can get the heck out of there.
I also agree with bagofbones, Plus it looks to me like the whole engine has been updated to supposrt better lighting effects, the new dynamic weather system and body dismemberment - does anyone really expect a new game engine as DLC?
Granted I suppose it would have been physically possible to stick the new locations/characters and special infected in L4D1 as DLC or whatever, but you've got to see how that would be ludicrously generous.
Frankly I have no problem paying valve for a new game because frankly they are one of the best developers in the business and they deserve every penny.
I take it the directors haven't seen many zombie films.... The whole point is to shoot them in the head, not just load them with bullets. And zombies do try to actually grab you, not just try to slap you. Slower zombie games like the original Resi's look much better than this crap. Didn't even like the first.
I have yet to see much of the first game.. (A guy was facing a gorilla looking thing) on a youtube video I saw.. but it did not seem nearly as intense as this.
I have to say, for me, it seems impossible for all of those zombies to rush you like that.. (Well infected) I would think the environment would naturally bottleneck them to some degree.
Crazy or not, there still just human corpse. So they shouldn't have any 'special abilities'
