The first details and video of the current-gen MechWarrior "reboot" have been unearthed, and it's looking absolutely wicked.
The new game is in development at Piranha Games with Jordan Weisman, co-founder of original MechWarrior studio FASA on board.
Called only 'MechWarrior', it has a strong focus on information warfare, giving players access to unmanned drones for surveying the battlefield and relaying information to teammates.
Apparently, the developer wants every class of mech in the game to really matter and you'll gain experience and become better at piloting your chosen class. This, in theory, will allow you to specialise in a certain time of big robot and will hopefully stop everyone hopping on the heavy class bandwagon.
MechWarrior is in development for the PC and the Xbox 360. No date yet, but we're looking forward to this.
Best news for a game release in a long, long time. I got worried when they started with the Mech Assault games, which were c**p in comparison to the MW series. Also in time gone by I would have said that this game could not me released on a console but I think now that the 360’s controller can handle the job.
I've always wanted to like Mech Warrior... In theory it's an awesome game, but I've never really enjoyed any of the previous versions. I think I just played them for the cut-scenes.
Mech Warrior has always truely come to life in online mode rather than the single player. Depending on how many players xbox live can handle will determine if I get this on 360 or pc.
That looks pretty interesting, I'll certainly be watching out for this. I played Mechwarrior 2 a little bit all those years ago but never got the chance to really get into it, will try not to make that mistake this time.
