Microsoft says it's investigating the early delivery of Halo 3: ODST to a small number of customers in France.
Videos of lucky Parisian punters unwrapping the shooter have cropped up (and since been pulled) all over the internet. However, parties willing to show off their Halo bounty on the internet look to risk the wrath of Microsoft's black helicopters...
"We are investigating a very small breach in our distribution process around the early delivery of 'Halo 3: ODST' units," a Microsoft spokesman told CVG.
"We are also investigating Xbox Live accounts that show activity related to Halo 3: ODST and will take action against those we believe have procured copies of the game illegitimately.

"We have nothing further to share at this time," the company said, failing to offer specifics on the exact number of copies that've managed to get into gamer's hands (although it's thought to be little over a hundred).
ODST won't appear in UK shops properly until September 22. We'd expect French spoil-sports to put many, many spoilers on the internet before then though - you've been warned.
UPDATE: Xbox Live boss Stephen Toulouse has followed up: "clarity on the ODST thing. We will not be banning legitimate customers from Xbox LIVE who play early," he said via Twitter. It seems MS is focusing its sights on just dirty pirates then.
Haha i dont blame you WHERESMYMONKEY but hopefully i'm off to Paris at the beginning of sept so i'm gonna keep an eye out for it . But i bet by the time i get there mircosoft would have done something about it
Whilst I in no way condone piracy, the game must be finished for it to be leaked which begs the question...Whats with the September 22nd release date MS? If the game is finished it should be released.

Probably marketing reasons. It won't make sense to anyone but the bean counters though.

It's likely they had set the release date before the game was completely finished and they managed to finish it before the deadline.
Either that or maybe they're using all the spare time to print all the millions of copies that are going to be sold and that's why they're stocking so early to make sure everywhere will have plenty of stock.

Yeah maybe. Just seems strange how some people managed to buy a copy in a retail store if that were the case.
