New Wii channel goes live

"Get hints on relationships" with free channel
After making the internet channel free last week, Nintendo has got another Wii channel to give away. This one's a bit 'out there' though...

"Check your daily fortune and get hints on relationships, activities and even the types of food that your horoscope recommends with the free Today & Tomorrow Channel, launching on Wii in Europe on 9th September.

"Your friends and family can join in the fun, as up to six people can take part by registering their Mii character and date of birth. You will all then receive a detailed daily fortune in five categories: love, work, study, communications and money. The next day's fortune is displayed every evening, so you can check ahead of time before a big day.

"As well as providing your fortune, the Today & Tomorrow Channel can also give you lifestyle tips, including activities that can improve your daily life and suggestions about what to eat, all based on your horoscope. You can even check the compatibility of different Mii characters for the day. Use this feature to see how you will get along with your friends and family - could be useful if you are planning a long car journey!"

And that's the Today & Tomorrow Channel. Download it today. Delete it tomorrow.

This is exactly the sort of reason I want to sell my Wii.

I'm a long time supporter of the Wii, but after buying a PS3 last week, announcements like this just push me further away from the little white console. I don't mind Nintendo being quirky, but I wish they'd totally rethink the consoles "user experience", especially their on-line strategy.

I like the channel concept, but the channels themselves suck!

erm.... Lol!

Yup! Just about sums it up. The women iwll love it though... probably.

I think i'll just pass thanks.

Even my missus thinks this stuff on the Wii is crap, which leads me to wonder why they invested any resources in developing it whatsoever.

Even my girlfriend (who loves the Mii and avatar systems and everything cutesy) can't see the point in the latest Nintendo stuff. And when even she says "what's the point in that on a games console?" you know there's something weird going on Smile

But who are we mere users to argue? They're still selling by the boatload.

So it's the virtual equivalent of those magazines you get in some of the Sunday tabloids then...

Come on Nintendo, throw us something decent for once.

All of my most anticipated releases (Red Steel 2, No More Heroes 2 and TvC) are third party.

What are you up to, and why are you punishing us.

Its been out in Japan for ages. They eat that stuff up. I'd like to know when we're getting the video channel.

This is exactly the reason when I hear about how well a particular game or console is doing in Japan I do so with a pinch of salt. They'll lap up any old crap.

No. The truth is that they seem to be much more open to buying into new ideas and concepts, rather than waiting for the next FPS or beat-em-up fix. The fact that it's probably a load of old crap is irrelevant.

I think you're all over-reacting.- If you don't like the idea, then don't download it. No one is forcing you. - Likewise, if you are sick of your Wii, then get shut. Simple. What's the problem?

Hey i never said i wasn't going to download this. It's free right. Therefore fun for five minutes. I also would like to know what a sagitarius should eat for dinner tonight because right now. I don't have a clue!

I didn't mean you!

Nintendo really shouldn't be humouring the people who buy into that crap. Very irresponsible if you ask me. Will it be Wii Homeopathy next?
mrlister on 8 Sep '09
I think carterlink is right on the money if you dont like it then dont pay it any notice. I wish people would just grow the hell up instead of making these stupid comments. If you dont like the Wii f@** off.
