Tomb Raider man leaves Tomb Raider (again)

Toby Gard leaves Crystal Dynamics
An online CV posting has revealed that Toby Gard - the man who created Lara Croft, left developer Core and then re-joined the franchise at Crystal Dynamics - has again left Lara behind. Clear on that?

While no details have been revealed about why Gard has left Tomb Raider house Crystal Dynamics - which he was originally brought into to help with ongoing Tomb Raider projects - he did give Develop a tiny update:

"Obviously it's confidential what goes on at Crystal Dynamics. But the situation is that I'm no longer working with them, and I've started up my own consultancy business," he said.

End of another era?

if he had any hand in making underworld as bland and repetitive as it was, then im glad hes gone.

i honestly dont get how they managed to make both legend and anniversary solid fun (but not perfect) games, and then underworld be as dull as it was. they need to reboot it after a mess like that, which is a shame, because legend really was quite damn good.

Agreed, Legend may not have been as visually agreeable or capable as Underworld but it was a damn sight more fun. Underworld sucked all of my love for the series away, it was a boring, heartless game.

tomb raider is old, the developers should rethink the whole thing and learn from other like uncharted

Agreed. Just bought Underworld thinking that I couldn't go wrong for tenner. Oppps. I've gotten a little under half way through the game and it just feels aimless.

Aniversary and Underworld were good had what matters, puzzles and dumb monsters to kill.Just hope the next 1 is polished before release. You cannot afford nowaday's to release a shoddy game,so who stays and go's only matter's if they are the main input. But I dont think that it's like that anyway,if they need ideas they should post a comp.
