Sony UK has passed over details on a few 250GB PlayStation 3 bundles, which seem to give you a choice of games as some other goodies. Here's the official release.
Sony Computer Entertainment UK today announced a line-up of PlayStation3 (PS3) bundles for the holiday season, consisting of a PS3 with a 250GB hard disc drive and a selection of software and content for £284.99. From 1st October a choice of soft bundles containing either 2 x Platinum titles or inFamous will be available.

On 16th October, this range will be expanded to include an Uncharted 2 bundle. Finally, October 19th will see the launch of a Blu-Ray movie pack containing Wolverine, Batman The Dark Knight and a Blu Ray Remote.
Following the great success of the new, smaller, 120GB PS3, which sold over 1m units in its first three weeks on sale, the 250GB model has the same hardware specifications as the current model, but with greater storage space, to offer consumers even more choice.
The 250GB PS3, with its larger storage capacity, will allow owners to take full advantage of the incredible software line-up and the many multimedia functions available on PS3, whether that is storing and viewing your family photographs, listening to your entire music collection in crisp quality, or watching your favourite home videos or TV shows.
More storage allows you to download more of the latest games and add-ons from PlayStation Store, as well as movies in both HD and SD from the PlayStationNetwork video delivery service when it launches later this year, without worrying about running out of space.

But they expect the large HDD and games to entice new owners, who then buy GT5, Heavy Rain, Last Guardian, MAG etc and spend on PSN, then they'll see profit. I'm not sure I get all the hoo ha about selling consoles at a loss, when it's been going on for years.
I don't think large HDDs are that important for Sony though, as upgrading is so easy. But then maybe the average person on the street doesn't know this?
I'm not sure about all the different SKU's from MS and Sony this gen, but bundles are all good as far as I'm concerned.

Maybe return the new Slim you just bought, as nicely wrapped as you can in the box it shipped in? Maybe they will give you your money back, or store credit which you can use for the 250GB bundle coming out soon.

You do know that the Playstation business does make money though right? Yes they lose on hardware, but the gains on licencing, software and digital sales outweigh the hardware loss. Also you know that Sony used this same tactic with BOTH the PS1 and the PS2. Lose on hardware, gain big on software. Good thing your not in their accounts team!

Well, I suppose it's good if you want to buy a PS3 over Christmas. I would say that the HDD size is more for marketing. Bigger numbers always sound better, and it puts Sony in a better light if they up the size but keep the same price.

Everytime I hear this same comment it makes me laugh just how short peoples memorys really are.
Both the PS1 & PS2 sold at a hardware loss for first few years. And Sony make their money from Software NOT HARDWARE! Go back and look at Sonys business model for the last ten years and you'll see that this is nothing new. Both the PS1 & PS2 made Sony huge profits, im sure the PS3 will do the same.
60GB lasted 2 years it was one of the launch one's this March just gone died boo whoo,but i got a new 80gb so was happy .Also just got a slim 120gb to use at home and use my 80gb one for taking places,now I'm mad cos soon for only 35 pound more could have waited a few more months and got a 250gb with some games this stinks.
