In November 2007 Xbox World 360 magazine penned an in-depth feature called 'Assassin's Creed: Ending Explained' to try and solve the mysteries surrounding the Ubisoft game's cryptic conclusion. And now the devs even use it.
The keys to Assassin's Creed's ending's true explanation, it turns out, were held by just one man. And when he moved projects to work on James Cameron's Avatar , Ubisoft's IT department accidentally wiped his computer clean. Ending: gone. Explanation document: gone. Woops.
What to do? Says Patrice Desilets, the man in charge says: "Well, Xbox World 360's piece was pretty spot-on, so now we're using that." We hope they're paying you freelance, XBW lads...
"The idea of the ending was that Subject 16 is trying to tell everybody something bad is on the way," explains Desilets. "And to make sure you understand this is really, really bad, he wants to show you everything. There's a bunch of stuff like the pyramids: let's just draw the pyramids, and the All Seeing Eye, and everything else because it's weird.
