Ubi used XBW's Assassin's Creed: Ending feature

IT error saw original documents deleted; up steps Xbox World
In November 2007 Xbox World 360 magazine penned an in-depth feature called 'Assassin's Creed: Ending Explained' to try and solve the mysteries surrounding the Ubisoft game's cryptic conclusion. And now the devs even use it.

The keys to Assassin's Creed's ending's true explanation, it turns out, were held by just one man. And when he moved projects to work on James Cameron's Avatar , Ubisoft's IT department accidentally wiped his computer clean. Ending: gone. Explanation document: gone. Woops.

What to do? Says Patrice Desilets, the man in charge says: "Well, Xbox World 360's piece was pretty spot-on, so now we're using that." We hope they're paying you freelance, XBW lads...

"The idea of the ending was that Subject 16 is trying to tell everybody something bad is on the way," explains Desilets. "And to make sure you understand this is really, really bad, he wants to show you everything. There's a bunch of stuff like the pyramids: let's just draw the pyramids, and the All Seeing Eye, and everything else because it's weird.

"He was just this crazy guy trying to reveal everything, and the task was a bit too much for him to handle."

And according to Xbox World 360's hands-on with Assassin's Creed II, the sequel has even more cryptic puzzles to solve - which it promises it'll be doing in an all-new feature at the end of the year.

Check out yesterday's new Assassin's Creed II details for more, and look for Xbox World 360 Issue 84 - or buy it online right now.

While these things can, and apparently do, happen it is pretty embarrassing. I certainly hope the XBW fellows receive some sort of compensation.

If an ending can be complicated that it needs a file to explain and only 1 man can explain it, then isnt something wrong?
