Ratchet Collector's Edition detailed

Flashy box and other goodies, exclusive to one retailer
Sony will release a Collector's Edition of Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time, and here are some pictures of it.

The big fold-out box, which will be sold exclusively through Game, comes with some flashy 3D cover (as seen in the video below), an artwork book, and a PSN voucher with a code that lets you download a special level, the Insomniac Moon.

According to Insomniac, this level "resembles the layout of the Insomniac Games' offices! Scattered through this museum-like level, you will discover a moon's worth of extra content that didn't quite make it into the game". Sounds cool.

In case you haven't seen it yet, check out the seven minutes of footage below - A Crack in Time actually looks brilliant.

It does suck that it's exclusive to one retailer because there is zero price competition.

Will probably get the standard edition once it hits £30.

Another exclusive level for pre-ordering at a certain retailer Mad this is getting stupid now. I don't mind things like special edition soundtracks and making of's being given away in these promotions but when i buy a game on release day and my friend buys one from elsewhere i at least expect to be given the same amount of gameplay.

R&C is another game i'm really looking forward to but I'm gonna just stick with my vanilla copy, I've been stung with a few of these pre-order codes not working anyway (Amazon i'm looking at you). Maybe by the time i'm finished it this level will be available as DLC

I am weak and GAME now have my pennies.

I just can't believe that it comes out the week after Forza 3!

16/10/09 Uncharted 2/Brutal Legend

23/10/09 Forza 3

30/10/09 R&C:Crack in Time

Who said all the decent games had been put back to 2010!!!???? Shocked

Another sub-standard game getting the special edition treatment. I have the original on PS3, and almost every level is identical. I won't bother with this.

It's beginning to get like this time last year with all the fantastic games coming out again. We had a wee dry spell there but it just seems to be AAA after AAA up till crimbo.

I'm not sure R&C is widely classed as a AAA game, but it is damn enjoyable all the same. Smile I'm sure Forza 3 will do very well in reviews and may even be a candidate for GOTY.

Still, variety is the spice of life....

TBH i've only played Tools of Destruction but it was one of the most fun games i'd played in years. Everything in the game was crafted beautifully and there wasn't a single annoyance in it, now how many other games can boast that.

Totally agree with you there, ToD was the first R&C game I'd played and it was just plan fun. Nice graphics, amusing characters, a great game.

R & C is one of Sonys' biggest and most important franchises.
It has a long history, and they wouldn't continue making sequels if it didn't sell.
Production values, IMO has always been top notch.
Gameplay and entertaining value as well. Replaying even so, cause the weapons-upgrade system.
Why shouldn't this be a AAA franchise/game?
Just because it's not grey, cold and bloody/gory, doesn't mean it's not a AAA title.
My opinion at least.

So what's the price of this 'Game' edition? I usually hit the local Asda up for my games.

I'd take Ratchet & Clank ACIT over Modern Warfare 2 any day, it's just the way i roll! Smile
