Alpha Protocol delay is (finally) official

Spring 2010 it is, says Sega
Sega's finally, officially and properly confirmed RPG Alpha Protocol's delay to spring 2010.

"Alpha Protocol is a new take on the RPG genre and from day one the team has been working to make Alpha Protocol a truly unique game for players to experience." says Obsidian boss, Feargus Urquhart.

"We're very happy that Sega has made the decision to hold back the shipment of the game in order to give it the best chance at becoming the publishing success that we at Obsidian and our partners at Sega are striving for".

"Alpha Protocol has been a very promising title since the beginning of the development cycle." Added Sega Europe MD, Alan Pritchard. "By pushing Alpha Protocol to Spring 2010, we can ensure that the game will be released in the best commercial release window possible and will also receive the focus this true AAA titles deserves."

Is this Game going to get lost in the Spring 2010 rush?

I think it might.

So they even have delays to the announcement of the delay?

That's commitment!

Has 2009 now become the year that never was for gaming releases. apart from a handfull I can think of most AAA games have been bumped till next year. Scared of the Modern Warfare effect maybe.

Yeah, thinking about it, the only games I have purchased which have been released this year are Street Fighter 4 and Arkham asylum.

Thankfully, L4D2 is coming out, and I believe Assasin's creed 2. Early 2010 is going to be immense though!

The question is, why didn't they just announce it when it was first rumoured? Why drag it out an extra couple of weeks? More free publicity?

There's no doubt that the delay is to avoid loss to Call of Duty. No point advertising against a game you already KNOW is going to sell by the assload Smile

Butyou can get around the whole "no new games" thing by picking up older ones in bargain bins. That's how I got The Witcher, Assassins Creed and Mirror's Edge. It's a good opportunity to try games you're not sure you'd like Smile And check for PC/PS3 games on US websites too. Region free is awesome!

So far this year I've only got Dawn of War 2 and (soon) Forza 3 new. Doesn't bother me that much.

True just the other day I picked up Mirror's edge and the last Prince of Persia from Game, 2 for £15.00. I've even seen newer games slip into the bargin bin faster of late.

We're very happy that Sega has made the decision to hold back the shipment of the game in order to avoid competing with the latest CoD game.
