Activision Blizzard has scooped the gong for Publisher of the year. We reckon the super successful Guitar Hero series and shooter behemoth Call of Duty: World at War probably had a lot to do with that.
Left 4 Dead masterminds Valve, along with Bethesda, Electronic Arts and Sony were in contention, all with fantastic games out over the past year, but they don't sell bez-illions of plastic guitars to the mainstream masses. Soz.
What are the criteria for winning "Publisher of The Year"? Valve keeps its online sales figures secret, although they might be released for events such as these if that's one of the main factors in determining whom wins. Activision is a big player amongst the publisher, there is no denying that, however they do not appear to be the much loved amongst increasingly vocal elements of the gaming world.

Should have been Sony easily.Problem is that 360 only fans are more numerous.Infamous,Killzone2,Uncharted 2(real GOTY),Eyepet,Singstar(more great content).Something for everyone of high quality.
My god this must have been all the MW fanboys. I cant believe a company that has been so blatant in their assholeness won this award. Personally I feel it should have been EA, who have really turned themselves around the last 2 years. Well guess Activison will see their current (rape) model as a great thing after this

Personally I find the SDF fanboys the most ridiculous of the bunch. Regardless, I would think that "Uncharted 2" was released too late in 2009 to be a contender for GOTY this year. 2010 is likely another story however, so you may get your pick yet.
