Anyone who says that Xbox 360 is just for fans of shooters is bang on the money. Seriously. The final list of contenders reads like the who's who of the action genre. You've got Gears of War 2, Fallout 3, Call of Duty World at War, Fable II and Left 4 Dead. There's not even a racing game in there.
But because there was no Halo released during the period the Joysticks measures, the winner went to, yep Gears Of War 2.

Good call, IMO. While I prefer the background setting of the "Halo" universe, I much prefer the actual gameplay of "GoW 2". Both "Halo 3" and "GoW 2" executed some rather superb voice acting, set pieces and storylines from where I'm standing.
I would've put Fable 2 and L4D ahead of Gears 2 for overall enjoyment, but all three are superb titles so it could've gone to any of them...a great year for 360 gaming in general!
Am I the only Xbox owner who hates both GOW and Halo and find them both very boring and seem to be made with attention defficit teens in mind?!?
Personally I think Fallout 3 should of won it, but I spose it did get the overall game of the year
I reckon as 360 owners go, you're almost certainly in the bottom 1% who find/found Gears and Halo in anyway boring, let alone designed for ADHD "youths!"
Or maybe it's just that you're not cut out for "full on" action console games with superb on-line gameplay...Fallout 3 is a good game, but not even worthy of a mention in the same breath as Halo!

It reminds me too much of playing Quake or Unreal Tournament, was okay 7-8 years ago but I grew out of games which required bunny-hopping and has teenage yanks hurling racial/homophobic rants at you.
I know alot of people say Halo showed that consoles could do FPS games but personally I give that crown to Goldeneye
Don't wanna start a flame war but Halo's online play is a step backwards.
Gimme BFBC or even MW over Halo anyday.

Although I will say a Halo or GOW movie would be pretty cool, just the games that suck
not sure gears should have won, but the 360 is geared towards shooter fans (im one!!), you only have to look and have a go with the controller, totally made for shooters, whilst the ps3 pad is absolute s**t for shooters....

Correction the PS3 pad is s**t for everything and i also hate gears of bore so your not alone Jokai!

Battlefield and Modern Warfare bore the s**t out of me, the Halo series are head and shoulders more enjoyable than both Quake and Unreal combined, in fact both latter titles are massively over-rated!
As I mentioned previously, I think you are almost certainly in the minority of 360 owners regarding Halo and specifically Halo 3 which is still consistently in the top 3 games played on-line, so Bungie must have got something right, or should that be, everything right!... and Gears 2 isn't three bad either.
