EA's worst kept secret, Dead Space 2, is set for release sometime next year, reports respected news agency Reuters.
It says: "Electronic Arts has a pair of horror offerings for gamers. The publisher recently shipped Dead Space: Extraction for Wii, which is a prequel to last fall's Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC hit. Dead Space 2 is in development for next year."

EA's yet to officially confirm the follow-up, but a Visceral Games job ad blabbed last month: "The game is in the later stages of pre-production, ready for production in the next few months, with many of the navigational and combat mechanics in place."
It continued: "The Games Label at EA is 100% committed to this IP, and has already worked on IP extensions such as comic, animated features, and action figures."
You beauty!!! Loved the first one. 2010 may just become the best gaming year of all time - Mass Effect 2/Bioshock 2/Alan Wake/Mario Galaxy 2/Heavy Rain/Dead Space 2 & maybe a new Zelda game for the wii...Too good!

Absolutely! Not forgetting of course Super Street Fighter 4 and AVP.
Seriously, I think it may well be one of the greatest ever years to be a gamer.
Final fantasy 13 and gran turismo 5 also are on my list as well as a few games already mentioned. Shaping up to be a good year. Perhaps a new motostorm and an actual call of duty not this modern warfare pap.
But can we please get a decent PC port with patch support this time. The control system on the first was just shocking as well as a couple of the menu bugs. I had to screw around with the text files to get it working right.
Looking forward to this very much as the first game was a very special not quite Doom 3 but for a 3rd person game was quite exceptional. And yes 2010 is just looking better and better, I could think of maybe 20+ games to add to that list, its going to be a great year for gamers Think AVP has got me the most excited though, and after playing Gearboxes "Borderlands" cant wait to see what they do with Aliens:colonial marines.
I absolutely adored the first one and have been aching for a sequel ever since, however, I'm a little worried about the time frame for this one. Work has only begun on it recently, so if it's to be released late next year that's only little over a years development time. Is that enough time to make another game of the same quality of the first one?, I hope so.
This isn't fifa EA, please don't ruin the series with yearly half bottomd sequels, you've turned that corner, remember.
I imagine that a lot of the character/creature models can be re-used, and that the same goes for some of the locale settings as well. Now add some new critters and locales on top and surely that ought to allow the developers to shave some significant development time off while still creating a visibly viable game. As for story development, well that would only seem to be held back by how well the creative juices are flowing in the lead writers' minds. Have faith, Flash; it'll be good I reckon.
Absolutely, I still have sky high hopes for it. I didn't mean to sound so pessimistic, I just really want them to get it right.(even if it means waiting a bit longer for it)
