Reports claim that Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital has confirmed Gran Turismo 5 will feature a full track editor. But Sony UK says otherwise.
A Sony rep has just told CVG: "We haven't confirmed this", adding that Sony "aren't offering any other comment at this time".
The feature is said to have been announced at a recent trade fair, where Polyphony said "you can make your own tracks". It's reported that a rep went on to clarify: "It will have a track editor. You will be able to rebuild a track from scratch or edit the tracks that are already put in Gran Turismo 5."

Sounds pretty mental - not what we expected from the driving sim. But we should wait for more concrete confirmation before you break out the party poppers.
There's no further word on a western release of the game either, which is due for Japan in March 2010.
I'm not sure that I'd be too fussed about a track editor, to be honest. I only say that because there are generally loads of tracks in GT games anyway.
I don't even care about damage either. I've been recently playing Forza 3 and I have hardly noticed the damage model so I'm a bit gutted that PD went back to the drawing board to appease fans of broken bumpers.
Personally, I would love to see them put weather and day/night cycles in there. That would certainly please me more.
Anyway, I'm off home soon and I can't wait to try the GOWIII demo that Sony has kindly sent me!
That would be an awesome feature. However, I will just be happy to see the game get released. It looks shinier than the sun at this point in time. I'm also hoping for a custom soundtrack feature, and it makes sense in a driving game where you could, assumedly, use a CD player/radio.
sounds like the sort of thing they could release after the game has been out a while as dlc rather than part of the final game.
i'd rather spend the first weeks or months doing all the races than creating or editing tracks. i reckon they could put this time to better use if its true and do it later.

Perhaps you’re either very good at driving or you’re playing with the damage simulation turned down too low, as I notice the damage when I smash into a wall after attempting to take a car on a hairpin as my car becomes unplayable, sure the cosmetic damage is a bit of a let down, but the performance damage adds a good dimension to it.

It's set to full, Conkers. I suppose I have always been a cautious driver, even on games, so I tend not to see the effects of a damage model. In fact, if I hit another car, I usually start again as it ruins the replay.*
*I won't use the rewind feature as it is for noobs.
In the end, I prefer to have a clean race as I find it far more satisfying than smashing my way through the pack to reach the podium. Therefore, I never missed this feature in the GT games.
Maybe he was refering to Audio Tracks. You know these driving games now a days , it's all about the amps with these youngsters. In my day, we got squeaking internal speakers that did handled all them there sound.
I reckon it would have been in the initial development stages but Sony are probably wanting to pull it to give Mod Nation Racers a fighting chance.
If millions of users were building their own tracks in Gran Tourismo 5 then there wouldnt be much point in investing Mod Nation Racers (which may or may not prove be the Mario Kart PS3 was looking for).
