Mass Effect 2 DLC detailed?

"Downloadable characters" and "full campaign expansions" mentioned in survey
Mass Effect 2's ambitious downloadable content plans have seemingly been detailed, if a recent Microsoft retailer survey is anything to go by.

The 'Microsoft Expert Zone' quiz for retailers, which wasn't supposed to be seen by our mortal, non-Gamestation manager eyes, mentions downloadable characters, combat content and full episodic expansions for the sequel.

The 'quiz' also lists weapon and armor packs, new downloadable worlds as well as "full campaign expansions for download."

It also mentions that Mass Effect 2 will see "periodic updates," which will feature DLC, via Mass Effect 2's unannounced in-game "Cerberus Network".

It's all well and good on paper (or computer screen, in this case) but let's pray BioWare actually manages to get it out this time, as opposed to the first Mass Effect's disappointing DLC turnout.

Mass Effect 2 is out in the UK on January 29.

Cant wait for ME2!!

As long as this DLC does not appear the same month that the Game is released then the more Mass Effect the better!

Always up for DLC, especially for games I love like ME, but I do wish they would just focus on getting the game out first before even thinking about it. Anywho, hope it's not as underwhelming as ME's DLC.

It's quite clear that content is being pre planned and held back for virtually all games now.

I would much rather have a bigger game at release and a sequel worked on sooner, but this is a business after all, and DLC is a great way to get even more of our money for less effort.

In fact multiplayer DLC almost has to be bought to avoid being alienated by your friends.

It's sad, but this is how it is now, like it or lump it.

Come on then EA, hook my wallet's t**s up to a machine an start milking the cash out.

Ingy,
For as long as people keep jumping on download content developers will continually reduce games or hold back parts of them in favour of the very lucrative DL market.

Just be thankful that large games with lots of content (GTA series, Fallout 3, Oblivion and Mass Effect, etc) are always popular.

Ingy, the game engine may be old, but TLaD and TBoGT are a perfect case for DLC in and of themselves. The second one especially is worth the price of admission itself.

Yes I agree and as for what UBISOFT did with GRAW games; that your friends couldnt even join your game server unless they brought the D/C even if you wasnt playing the D/C maps; that was a disgrace and not sure how they got away with it.
NEOnburN9 on 3 Nov '09
I really hope Bioware has not held back anything from the main game and that the D/L content is like a full expansion not like thier last D/C that was a bit of a joke Embarassed
Hoping oneday they turn ME into an MMO, oh and Too Human aswell that would be awesome. Maybe not so much a full MMO but something like Phantasy Star Universe would do. Smile
