I am looking forward to this.

I want to know if you can get SD and HD films and what the prices are going to be?

Chuffed about being able to download these to my PSP. Smile

I wonder if I could download a HD film and still be able to use that for the PSP too....? Confused

Excellent, what with this and the 500 odd movies i can get for free from the SkyPlayer and the rentals on 360 i'll have a wealth of choice for when there's bugger all on tele.
ensabahnur on 3 Nov '09
You so added the pricing details to follow just now.

Thing is, for me the price is key. Any more than 3€ a film for rent then its a waste of time.

Plus, if the HD films are more than 4GB and you cant transfer them to an external HDD, then I wont be buying any either.

These are the key points for me, but still looking forward to it. along with the Spanish I players that are also due this month "In theory". As I cant access the BBC one from outside the UK Crying or Very sad

Hopefully this will spur on some competition with Zune marketplace and we'll see some decently priced rentals.

But what will the bit rate be like on HD movies?

Personally with experience of BT Visions 'HD' offering, i am slightly dubious, yes the resolution will be there, but if the bit rate is < a DVD whats the point?

Id rather see huge HD downloads that I can queue up a few days in advance and get the quality, than small DL's and awful quality.
terra_nova_uk on 3 Nov '09
this sounds kool, very useful and entertaining but its not needed for me because i download movies off the net anyway! hope the users don't get ripped off with prices though

Cant wait!!!!

Genuinely look forward to this, it would be quirky if they allowed you to watch it in the ps3 home theatre to give it that going to the movies feel Razz

Not with the speeds you get in home and having to queue to get films, no thanks.

Plus isnt it, going to the Cinema feel? or are you from across the pond?

How much? How much? How much? How much? How much? How much? How much? How much? How much?

Can get pretty good deals from Love Film and Blockbuster these days, with Blu Rays delivered straight to your house. This is the price point they will have to come in under to make this a success.
Also my ISP gets funny about download limits during daytime hours, how would downloading an HD movie say on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon affect this?

heh heh nice lookin forward to this

Agreed, price is key here!

not for me. i download loads of movies from stagevu.com directly from the ps3 web browsers. completely free too!

Will there be an anime service on the EU store? I know there was one on the US one but obviously it isn't as popular in the UK. Or will I have to continue buying Hong Kong and Region 1 DVDs?

You could I suppose but you wouldn't see any difference between HD and SD on the PSP's screen.
voodoo341 on 3 Nov '09
I bet the price will be too high. And downloading HD movies on the pitiful 40gb hard drive is a bit of a problem. I bet I can't even transfer it on a USB stick to be burned on a DVD/BR. If I pay for it, I want to own it physically.

If that's not a streaming service, it's gonna take me days to download gigabytes worth of HD material with the sorry DSL connections we have here. It's going to be faster ordering the movies thru mail.
And I bet the price won't differ much either.

Digital download movie sales/rentals are a big joke.

I brought play tv when it came out. Brilliant i thought but within a week id filled up my hdd (its about just over half a gig per half hour show in SD!) So i went out and brought a 260GB hdd and within 6 months ive filled that plus you cant play PLAY TV content on your psp without first converting it into another file using psp video 9 which is just stupid. Im currently sourcing the films ive recorded off tv from stagevu which should in theory free up about 2/3rds of my hdd and be able to play them on my psp to boot. The only saving grace for play tv is when i go to visit my gf parents in Norway i can watch british tv.....now if there was only something id miss lol
moss66 on 3 Nov '09
If I can rent HD films cheaper than Blockbuster then I am sold provided the selection is good which, judging by the list of partnership deals, it should be.
Eyhren on 4 Nov '09
Its all well and good, but when my PS3 f's up again and i dont want to keep forking out, i've lost all my dl stuff, give me psyical stuff anyday.
jaycee900 on 4 Nov '09
The good thing is that with Netflix coming to PS3 too, the prices should be competitive for rental.

I probably wouldnt buy films, but rental yes.
Barca Azul on 4 Nov '09
Do you 'buy' these games as oppose to 'rent' them like you do on 360? Because if so I can see there being a chance of this being more successful. Though what both companies should do is give the option for both buying and renting movies.

Looks like you can do both with the PS3 version. Rent or buy in HD or SD.
