It looks better than Forza 3, the prologue looks better than forza 3 but at the moment I prefer Forza and generally just tend to favour playing my 360 rather than my PS3.
How dare you not fall into a fanboy category! You'll cause a cataclysmic universe-destroying event!
Back on-topic. Just what the world needs - more ASBO-coloured cars. Yuck.
I'm wondering exactly what Polyphony are doing right now. Are they just kicking back and playing GT5, throwing screenshots out every week just to make people think they're still working? Same track every time, just throw in a different car. It's more like a render farm than a developer.
I agree with mark and I actually own forza 3. Its not as great as people make out but some are more easily satisfied than others.
Actually, I also own Forza 3 and have 'quite' enjoyed it. However, I have found that other games seem more exciting to play (UC2 and FIFA10 getting lot's of play time) and that I have to force myself to have another go at Forza 3. What's worse is that I spent a good hour designing my Mitsi' FTO (my favourite car from the original GT games), only to find that I couldn't use it online because it is a 'C' class car. Gutted.
I'd have say that if Forza 3 was a woman, it would probably be a Stepford wife. It does everything you ask of it, but in a cold, lifeless manner.
YEAH iv played forza 3 will buy it !!! wen im paid but Solo Dolo has it rite Prologue looked beta 2 yrs ago than Forza 3 now ??? GT5 will blind people who aint seen HD graphics on ther xbox......light is the key wid new HD systems and nothin compares wid UNCHARTED 2's brightness until i just seen vis frickin video AWESOME on Prologue u cud see all the interior of each car while racing FORZA 3 nanaaaaa..dual analogue is a great way 2 play GT5 bring it ON
Last time I played I beefed up a honda nsx and then done a pretty plain design. I didnt check it out for the last week or more so i dont know how its been selling. Ive yet to try it out online but only one of my mates have it and hes ploughing through the events and stuff before playing online. By then I probably wont want to play online.
N4G is a cesspool SVD, dont defend or condone it. That site gives all Gamers a bad name.
then this site gives gamers a bad name by association.
it has links from CVG, EDGE, eurogamer, kotaku etc.
the shite links are easily ignored.
Well, with the likes of you that's not surprising. Whilst the article links are interesting and some are quality, I was referring to the comments suggestion on the site, which is awful regardless of where the article comes from.

Dont get me wrong, the premise of N4G is a good one but it has unfortunately been over ran by the Fanboys, who bicker and argue over blogs, rumours and lies.
They may well link CVG, EDGE or Kotaku stories but you have to wade through loads of guff to get there. Admittedly ive only ever been on it a handful of times but if you think the comments section here can be bad, N4G is on another level.
N4G is a joke. The vast majority of articles are biased crap like '10 reasons the PS3 will fail' or '10 reasons the 360 is better than the Wii'. It is a collection of links to dumb 'articles' written by flame baiting mongs. You do get links to CVg/Edge etc, but they don't tend to get as many hits as the flame crap, which is indicative of its reader base. A pity, because in theory, the website is a magnificent idea.
Back on topic, the pictures are indeed quite sexy, but is it just me or do a lot of these screens seem to be lacking in anti alaising? The headlights on the Audi in the first picture look like they were made from Duplo! Maybe it is just the monitor at my work..

I'm not being funny, BlackMantis, but you are a 360 fan complaining about PS3 fans on a PS3 related story. I don't think N4G is so far removed, to be honest.

....seriously, they are some mean looking machines. Lovely.
@Mark, do you play Forza through a Logitech wheel on the Xbox or use the pad? I'm intrigued as to how it handles using a wheel. GTP is like butter.
Unfortunately, my Logitech wheel doesn't work on the 360, so I just use the pad. I'm certainly not buying another steering wheel!
And yes, GTP does drive like butter with the wheel.
Another thing that I miss on Forza 3 is the recommended gear signal that GTP has. I hate using racing lines, but would appreciate the gear dial letting me know what gear I should be in before a corner as sometimes my mind wanders on a long race.
There are so many different variables of tracks on Forza 3, that it is near impossible to remember all the permutations.

Mark all you ever do in relation to Forza is complain that it’s not as good as Gran Turismo, why did you even buy it? Why not wait for it? Why buy a game that has as much charisma as your socks and is as cold as a Stepfords wife? Perhap’s you shouldn’t have bothered, as nothing will ever be good enough for you compared to your favourite. That is ok though.
It would be good if you could start with all of these fancy cars. But, typical gran turismo would surgest you have to drive a load of golfs and crap like that for ages before you can aford all those king of cars. I just want a racing game where you can drive every car in the game from the start to be honest. I believe Forza three is like that in quick play and time trials or something.

Why complain about somebody's opinion?
What opinions? Yourself and Jensonjet just posted idiotic comments.

Why are all the shots released on the same track?
Just my opinion guys.
To be fair, I get the impression that Mark is a bit of a racing sim fan - so, it makes sense that he'd buy both when he owns both consoles.
I think the thing that people should consider is:
If both GT and Forza were multi-platform, would you wait for GT - or buy both?....I think I'd probably end up buying both. Not sure which I'd prefer though - I think Forza ever-so-slightly edges it for me.....just.
Looks to be on-par with Forza 3's graphics, and nothing more.
Now, if the track editor is something to sneeze about, then Sony may have my hard earned dollars once again. Until then, I'll just "suffer" with what appears to be a superior game currently in Forza III.
Here's hoping Sony makes this up to snuff--there's no such thing as too many quality racing titles, regardless of platform.
I have been playing some Forza 3 lately and I have to say - I have more fun playing GT5P & GTPSP. These GT5 screens look fantastic and accurate to the SEMA '08 award winning show cars they're intended to portray.
Forza 3 on the other hand is nowhere near as realistic as Greenabait and all of gaming journalism has declared. My findings...
* 100MPH @ Nurburgring = exhilarating. * Forza 3 equivalent = just okay.
* Hard, fast flick of the wheel at 100MPH in real car = sliding / spinning. * Forza 3 equivalent = minimal change in direction.
* Slam on the brakes at 70MPH in real FWD car = fishtailing. * Forza 3 equivalent = straight vector slowdown.
* Real car at 100MPH makes a sound like Jackie Chan's cannonball Subaru. * Forza 3 equivalent = a dying bumble bee.
We all know GT5 looks better than Forza 3, so lets not go there... I was expecting to see "amazing physics" and car models (simulation) on Forza 3, but the truth is - the handling and physics for Forza 3 have been over-hyped so much that this hype basically constitutes a lie. The question is... Why (lie)?
If you want fun then there are games like Mario Kart and the like to play.
Microsofts Flight Sim isn't fun, but it is the most immersive game of it's type. That's the same with GT. And that's why GT is so popular.
It makes you laugh when people want their games to be fun? Now that make ME laugh.
If you prefer to come home from a hard days work and sit in front of your TV and put in effort to a game that isn't fun for no REAL reward, then that's quite odd.
it does look nice but then GT games always do in the intro's or replay, just like how forza looks much better in those.
however, some of the screenshots it looks as though the car doesnt fit in with the rest of the scenery, cant put my finger on why but it does look odd. could be due to it being a replay where the car models are higher detail and the track scenary stays the same.
It looks better than Forza 3, the prologue looks better than Forza 3 but at the moment I prefer Forza and generally just tend to favour playing my 360 rather than my PS3.
Yeah, just forgetting about raw numbers here; that may favour the Polyphony Digital creation, to my naked eye, Forza 2 and the Forza 3 demo seem 'outperformed' compared with GT5 Prologue in the graphic department. Nevertheless, there are still some aspects of GT5 Prologue that could be improved, mainly tearing in high load situations, such as - tiny turns with several cars on screen at once for instance. Although, the quality is so good that I can't believe any significant improvement in the complexity of the graphic engine of GT5 can be done at this stage in development... but you never know!
Shame it won't have the features and charisma though.
I agree. Unfortunately, this type of genre still comes across as very 'sterile' too. It would be more interesting to have some wind effects, perhaps even rain in these games. If you can up the effects, you can get away with less detailed models as it'll hide quite a bit and still look very authentic. The 'wet stage' in GT3 is a perfect example; look at KillZone 2 (smoke, wind, debris), that also uses some of these effects impressively well. Of course you wouldn't want to go overboard with these things in a racing game. but it would be nice to have some of these additions regardless and would make some of the racing really challenging. Anyway, just some thoughts, here are some more screens (mainly 'bull shots'), to feast over.

According to PD, the cars polygons have gone from 200000 per car (GTP) to 400000 per car (GT5). That's a pretty significant shift, especially when Forza 3 has 100000 poly's per car! Massive difference.
In regards to weather effects, I thought that Sony's F1 game had awesome rain effects. Using these effects in GT5 would be great, though it doesn't look as if PD are going to add weather effects now.
^ thats like expecting a black comedy to be full of stupid jokes to make you laugh.
a game doesnt have to be "fun" to be enjoyable.
you are putting it under an umbrella. it can be "boring" yet immensely satisying.
its a type of fun, not just all out dumb fun for dips**t brains. some people arent halfwits like you and enjoy the challenge.
If a game has challenge and satisfaction and is a "type of fun", then by simple deduction the game IS fun - so your post is a massive contradiction.
I have no problem understanding that people like games that are less instant-reward than most, but being snobbish and telling people they're wrong for wanting to have fun games is just retarded. Because at the end of the day that's exactly what you want as well.
Been playing Forza, really love it. I think it safe to say that GT5 looks slightly better, but it's not like there is a massive gulf visually between the two games, and to be fair once you have seen one well rendered Audi R8 you have seen them all.
My concern is that GT5 won't be a massive step forward in the series in terms of 'feel'. Prologue certainly wasn't, it felt like GT1, 2, 3, 4...
Forza IMHO gets the 'feel' spot on. Handling model is exemplary, tracks are ace, it is a very enjoyable racing game that actively encourages you to play it, doling out awards and incentives every step of the way. Love the season mode set up too, nice lay out. All in all, it's a superb game.
GT5 has WRC and Speedway in there too, but unless it does something drastically improved from Prologue on the track, then Forza just edges it for me.
Here's hoping however that these shots mean customisation is in, because designing liveries etc in forza is frickin' ace.

100% agree with you on that, it's what surprised me the most about Forza 3.

again your misusing the word fun.
entertaining is a better word.
you want your game to be entertaining at the end of the day. not necessarily 'fun'.
how much do you reckon these have been photoshopped?
Anyway if the physics remain so basic and naff along with ps1 AI, there should be know reason why it shouldnt at 1024x600. Afterall the system resources would be spent on graphics. anyways they've been working on this 6 years it HAS TO LOOK GOOD!!!
Perhaps if they stopped going on bloody TV all the time and driving real cars and spent more time actually making the game, we could have had it in March of THIS year!!
