Media Molecule has said developing a sequel to LittleBigPlanet is not on the agenda because it would fragment the community, on which the game is so heavily focused.
Level designer Danny Leaver said: "We'd never want to do that. That'd be the most counterproductive thing you could do I think."

MM has released regular DLC updates for the PS3-exclusive platformer, ranging from Sackboy suits and new sticker packs to more substantial expansions like the MGS Level Pack, and more of that seems to be the plan.
"I think what you've seen so far from LittleBigPlanet, that's the way it's going to continue," producer Martin Lynagh told Critical Gamer.
LittleBigPlanet PSP is due for release in US on November 17, with a UK release expected around the same time. Look out for a full review later today.
This makes sense with this sort of game. The whole thing is driven on user content - and you can continuously add more and more building blocks to extend this, as well as more levels to unlock these items. The graphics are great, but even when they are a little bit dated it just isn't the sort of game that is going to suffer from the lack of a graphical update, unlike L4D or any other shooter or racer.
Yeah, even though i don't like LBP, i don't think it needs a sequel. With the MGS level packs etc it shows that they can add new experiences to the already existing game. And with the proposed water system it's almost a sequel in it's own right....i can imagine some water levels people will create will be brilliant.
I think the same with Rock Band/Guitar Hero. They really don't need the almost monthly new title coming out. It's nothing that can't be done via DLC.
But then again, in the GH case, we are talking about Activision here.....
Although Valve have done a good job of at least making it so that user created content works with both L4D and its sequel, there will still be people that will onely play one and not the other. However considering how much more polished 2 is i have a feeling that the migration will be quite large. The free publicity due to the boycott probably didn't hurt either.
I reckon it sold far more copies than they were expecting, and the DLC in terms of costumes and stuff must bring them a steady income as well, so they won't be in any hurry to do the sequel.
I'm interested in seeing what more they can do with the water though.
Yes, but we need more original levels please. The MGS and GOW packs are all well and good but since I am not a fan of either of these games there is no incentive for me to splash out on them.
I would like to see more 'regional' levels like from the actual campaign. It doesn't have to have any story to it, but how about some Australia levels, modern Britain, continental Europe, Space levels, underwater?
I have played LBP but its not that good I like a game with a story like ratchet and clank.
LBP is one of the best games of this generation. Takes regular 2D platforming to a new level (see what I did there?) and has a brilliant UGC system in place.
LBP does have a story, but you do need to actually read the dialogue boxes to find it out. And yes, it's a bit weird, but we'll forgive them that
Well said Dajmin. Just imagine in March iwth motion control making levels for LBP. YES! Does anyone know if you can make levels with other people online now?
