Microsoft's detailed the Avatar Awards Xbox 360 owners can unlock in Xbox Live's just-launched Halo hub, Halo Waypoint.
Waypoint includes a career system that tracks your accomplishments across multiple Halo games, says MS, rewarding you with Bungie-made Avatar Awards for specific Achievements.
Unlocking the 'Campaign Complete: Normal' Achievement in Halo 3: ODST for example, will gift your little Xbox bloke with a nice set of ODST Body Armour.

Are these awards retrospective in that it will know if ive beaten the Game already, or do I need to complete the Game again (not that im complaining, done it 3 times already and will gladly go back though it again)?

I just logged on yesterday and I got pretty much all the avatar awards straight away for having received the achievements.

Cheers altitude, ill be logging in as soon as i get out the damned office today.
Ahhhh. That's why I don't have the body armour. I killed all of the Engineers, every single one!
I did that too, it was far too late for me to think at the end, whoops, after hunting them down and killing them. Even the ones hidden away, I would mercilessly shoot the stupid fools as they floated off harmlessly.

I still can't explain why I kept on killing them, even though I found out they were harmless early on in my first play-through. I blame the Bungie designers for making them look like they were up for a fight, although I suspect that may have been part of the test.
It's about time the Avatar Awards got used for something. I only have the one everyone gets for turning on Waypoint, but I do plan on picking up ODST at some point.
