To backup the launch of Xbox Live hub, Halo Waypoint, Microsoft's detailed the release schedule for anime series, Halo Legends.
The first preview episode of the series, created by famed anime house STUDIO4C, will be released through Waypoint this Saturday, November 7, Microsoft has confirmed.
The Babysitter follows the story of a group of ODSTs who reluctantly accept a Spartan sniper into their strike team, says the blurb.
As they embark on a perilous mission to assassinate a high-ranking Covenant Prophet, old rivalries must be re-examined if the mission is to succeed. Watch what happens as the mission progresses into hostile territory, and both the Spartan and the ODSTs discover something important about each other.

So will these only be available to watch on those specific dates or is this a perpetual stream?
From my understanding of the press releases so far, they are only available on the set dates.
But this latest release has me confused?
What do they mean by 'preview episode'?
Screw it, I'll wait for the blu ray next year.
Oh I will be getting that anyway
Is it just me or does everyone else think that MS has actually got this waypoint thing right?
For Halo fans its a really nice addition to the games, books and all the rest...
I think it's a good addition and I hope they do it for some other franchises too.
Yeah it is a great addition. And the haters have absolutely no reason to moan either as it won't clog up the dashboard if you don't want it installed.
They'll find a way to hate on it, they always do!
Oh absolutely. The only true reason they hate it is that they're jealous
Too true!!! It says on the waypoint (or the ticker on the bottom) that you can watch it for free, but it will only be up on saturday. So make sure you have access to your 360 at one point 2mora!!! Despite my initial concern, I think the anime actually looks good! Looking forward to watching. Great job MS and Bungie
Not bad, not bad...looking forward to the others. The halo universe is definately getting richer.
I've got to say though that the behind the promotional featurette I watched a couple of days ago was quite funny. For all the reasoning they went into for doing the series, I wish they were just honest for once and said that they saw the Gotham Knight shorts and wanted a piece of the action. Stop trying to convince us that it's an original concept you douche bags.
After watching the first Halo legends episode and being one of the biggest Halo fans on this website- all I can say is:
What. The. Funk.
(SPOILERS!!!)
I can put up with the generic manga style. I could even put up with the cartoony character designs of it. Heck, the kung fu Spartan bit was alright-
But what the hell??? That red haired Final Fantasy reject would never make it as ODST. He looked about 12 for starters.
My fears about the Halo Legends cartoons became reality when the Spartans helmet came off and underneath is what appears to be a character from that sailor moon series. Is that a standard military haircut underneath that helmet!?
And lastly- Spartans are never declared KIA- always MIA as to make them sound indestructable and give hope to all the other soldiers they fight alongside.
I hope the other episodes are better- but I've seen a trailer with pokemon style characters and dinosaurs...? Urgh, anime... Will you ever stop being so rubbish?

I think if the idea of extravagant and impractical hairstyles annoys you, you had better not bother watching any anime again. Personally I found the enormous chin of that annoying Marine far more jarring.
I found it enjoyable but the story a little generic (although given the short length, it´s understandable).

I'm with Altitude on this one. These studios were never going to change their style just because it's Halo, which makes sense seeing as the whole exercise is to broaden the franchises appeal.
This first episode isn't the style of Anime I like, but it was ok. I'm just hoping future episodes have more meatier stories, not really bothered about the artistic design as it's always interesting to see different takes.
But how did all that hair fit inside the helmet? Could she even see? Mind you, her head was totally out of proportion with the rest of her.
As i mentioned, the overall style was ok- generic, but nothing hideous. I was just hoping it would stay a little bit more faithful to the Halo series. There's plenty of reference material for them to refer to.
But the Spartan removing her helmet was EXACTLY the sort of thing I was expecting but praying wouldn't happen. But it did. And it sucked.
Anywho- it's done- mustn't think about. My skin will start turning a shade of green. Are these the same studios that did Gotham Knight? Because that was hardly great either- I actually preferred the Animatrix shorts myself.

The reason why I never addressed that is because I don't know!
It was an eyebrow raising moment for me too though.
