It looks like Activision is planning to expand its rhythm action 'Hero' series even further next year as it has filed a trademark for the phrase 'Drum Hero'.
The popular Guitar Hero series has been recently joined by DJ Hero which makes use of a new turntable controller, and a more family-orientated counterpart Band Hero.

The trademark (via PS Lifestyle) doesn't give away any further information, and Activision has told CVG it "can't comment on rumours and speculation", but we're sure you can figure out what the game might have you do.
And if all these new Hero games do well, look out for Piano Hero, Bagpipe Hero and Harmonica Hero next year.
Mmmm. I should trademark coconut hero, just in case.
I'm pretty sure they're just covering their bases with this one - I really can't see them releasing a Drum Hero game.....besides, I'm pretty sure they trademarked this ages ago, along with a few other 'Hero' titles that are unlikely to ever see the light of day.

They certainly did. But I'm going ahead and applying for a "Football Supporter Hero" trademark anyway.
First I thought, "Drum Hero? F**k off.". Then I thought of that Taiko no Tatsujin DS which is quite good. (Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezqMAgyDiV0 )
But I doubt Activision can make a game as good as Taiko no Tatsujin.
