It may have failed to live up to expectations both critically and commercially, but that hasn't stopped Shigeru Miyamoto from insisting his Wii Music still has a future, and even hinting there may be a 'Wii Music Plus' on the cards.
Speaking to Official Nintendo Magazine (full interview to be published in issue 50), Miyamoto said: "[Wii Music] was a really unique game, and even today, we are receiving several different offers from people in the field of music education... I think it still has great potential."
But more likely to perk the ears of creative Wii musician types, he went onto reveal the game could receive some "developments" for the "future"...
"Unfortunately, we don't have any news we can talk about at the moment," he said, coyly. "But like Wii Fit Plus, it's not really a sequel to the original Wii Fit - but we have added some features to improve the overall experience. It's a kind of an enhanced version."
So a vastly improved Wii Music not too far in the distance? It'd be a bit like Hear'Say reforming and being really, really good. (Without sounding too harsh).
I wouldn't say I don't like Nintendo anymore. They still make better games - I say when it is the games - than anyone else. I've lost faith in M$uck (selling the 360 soon) and they're incompetent and their games are drivel. PS3 next year for me along with my Wii...
Going back to this, no, do not waste time and money on a 'plus' game. Go make something with a bit of meat. And I don't mean a cooking game!
Nintendo still are a 'proper' game company, its just they make other software for a wider range of consumers. Although at this point I wonder how many people have actually tried Wii Music for a reasonable length of time, because I can say I have and laughed so much (playing with three other people) it was worth the money in one sitting. But then again I don't feel that to justify myself as a gamer I can only play a 'certain' type of game...
The first one was alright but it needs a dramatic ovrhaul of it were to become a Nintendo quality game, there was just too little in the way of content or direction for it to be worth keeping.
the first one wasn't bad, the concept is brill, It just didn't quite come together.
I remember when Nintendo were a real games company too. When they released that brilliant side scrolling Mario on the wii and that cool zelda game with link on the train.
