Ah, the faithful old Game Boy Color, handheld forerunner to the GBA and great granddaddy of the all-conquering DS, DSi and now, the DS XL.

We've got our rose-tinted specs on today and have gone all gooey with nostalgia after poring over this splendid little History of Nintendo: The Game Boy Color feature from our colleagues over at Official Nintendo magazine.

There's a potted history of how the GBC was conceived, the battle against Sega's Game Gear and ONM select their five very best Game Boy Color titles.
