MI5 plans Xbox Live ads

Government intelligence organisation looking to attract 18 to 34-year-olds
Government intelligence organisation GCHQ, which works with MI5 and MI6, is to run an ad campaign on Xbox Live.

The six-week campaign will mark the first time the organisation has advertised on Xbox Live, the intention being attracting lucrative 18 to 34-year-olds to its ranks.

TMP Worldwide, the recruiting firm behind the GCHQ ads, says that many of its recruiting criteria are "reflected in game-play experiences on Xbox, such as quick thinking, problem solving and team work". Shooting virtual terrorists in the face might be another, as well.

"As well as tackling 'traditional threats' GCHQ's work is also about helping government departments, such as the Ministry of Defence, to protect their information and communication systems," a GCHQ spokeswoman told The Guardian.

"This means we can offer excellent training and careers for people with specialist technical skills. However, the fact remains that many potential candidates remain unaware of GCHQ and what we do. Using video on Xbox LIVE helps carry our message to the right people in a creative and innovative manner," she added.

Will the next generation of super spies by made up mostly of gamers? We're all killers, after all.

So if I got a killstreak in Halo then MI5 agents would give me a job?
Blumiere on 23 Nov '09
better off placing ads on PSN when agent comes out.

360 owners arent old enough to shave let alone become a spy. come on man.

this is the 3rd time ive seen you comment on pedos on ps3 and you obviously are either A) unable to read sentences or B) A over zealous fanboy who just says any bs to get a rise out of normal people. For the record it says the FBI are using the processing power of the ps3 to crack the passwords of pedos. Not 9/10 pedos prefered ps3. Can you see the difference through those microsoft corporate branded eyes of yours? Rolling Eyes

The MI5 salary I was offered wasn't bad. Not high enough to compensate for not being allowed to tell anyone where I worked or what I did though Smile
It's not like I applied for an agent position (although we all know everyone who applies wants to be Bond).

I'd happily work for MI5 so I could start introducing myself surname first Smile
