Sony "haven't confirmed" UK Heavy Rain date

SCEE responds to Japan date reports
SCEE has responded to this morning's report that Heavy Rain has picked up a February release date in Japan.

"I can't comment on Japan i'm afraid," a company spokesperson told CVG, adding "we haven't confirmed a release date for the UK yet".

Overnight several Japanese retailers, including Amazon Japan, listed the February 18 date for the PS3 exclusive.

Just had a look on Amazon UK and they have Aliens: Colonial Marines down for release on the 26/03/10 and Alan Wake for the 28/05/10.

If I pass this info onto CVG, IGN, 1UP, Gametrailers etc, do you think they'll pay me for my fine investigative journalism skills Laughing ?

this is gonna flop.

sorry to say.

this is gonna flop.

sorry to say.

It's okay to say whatever you like, but I wouldn't be so sure. Heavy Rain could quite easily appeal to a more adult casual audience and not just regular gamers like myself.

It all depends on how they market the game.

All I care about is whether it is good or not at this juncture.

Pretty childish remark, really. Confused
Mark240473 on 1 Dec '09
nothing childish about it.

you know its gonna flop and so do it, doesnt mean i want it to. we all know what sells. big driving games like GT, violent sandboxes like GTA, guff hollywood shooters like MW2.

not some pretentious art peice.
svd_grasshopper on 1 Dec '09
Both play.com and amazon.co.uk have Heavy Rain listed at £39.99 for a Feb 26th 2010 release.

play.com even has box art!

It happens to be my birthday, so I got someone to preorder it for me. I'm really looking forward to it; the start of Fahrenheit was such a great game that I have high hopes for Heavy Rain.

Do you think it is pretentious art, just because a French guy designed it?

Having not even played the game, that statement is rather childish too.

Saying that, there is nothing wrong with being childish as long as you are funny at the same time. Sadly you are not.
Mark240473 on 1 Dec '09
didnt know it was made by a french guy.

thats just my impression of it and i bet it rings true when i do play it.

youre being childish sticking up for something you have no interest in, especially when i didnt attack it in the first place. ya slag.

The thing is, I am interested in the game. In fact, there aren't many games that I am anticipating more, to be honest.

I'm not defending it, I'm just pointing out that calling it a flop (as if factually) is a tad premature - and childish.

Not wanting to get involved in the Handbag match here but I think Heavy Rain will do just fine.

Its never going to sell Halo 3 or MW2 numbers but then not many Games actually do, Heavy Rain is a niche title that will appeal to a select number of Gamers but as Mark said if marketed properly it could break into the mainstream.

The success of Heavy Rain will live or die with Sony and how they choose to market the Game and if their previous attempts are anything to go by Sony are certainly getting better at this part of their business.

I think that will pretty much decide it. If they push it as a kind of interactive film, it could shift bigger numbers.

Of course, it will have to be a good game too! But this gen has been all about the marketing/PR.

Not that barely anyone seems to pay attention to what I say, but even if it is a flop in sales I couldn't care less; even if that would be a shame.

And if it does flop, then it'll probably be like Beyond Good & Evil in that sense: an excellent came that got underlooked by the naive majority.

Either way as I've stated before many a times, this is the game that I will definetly be buying a PS3 for Wink

I think I may get this one...

After all the MW2, Uncharted 2, ODST & Forza 3 sessions, I'd welcome an interactive police thriller to stimulate my mind and give those trigger fingers a well earned rest.

I may not be representative of the masses but Heavy Rain will get my money ahead of Final Fantasy 13, which I've decided I frankly couldn't care less about.

Id agree with you there Lord, FF will no doubt be a good Game but as far as RPG's go im mos def sitting in the Western genre camp now and ME2 will be the RPG that should see me through quite a few months of next year.

I'm with you on that - I tend not to comment on Final Fantasy, but I've long since given up caring about that series.

The thing with Heavy Rain is - while it really doesn't seem like my cup of tea - it's certainly different to the vast majority of things out there, which can only be a good thing.

Variety is the spice of life, as they say.

Smile

I can see what Grasshopper is saying. These days the major big titles all fall into three Main categories. FPS, Sandbox or sport. Heavy rain can't really be classified as any of these which is why it MIGHT not do as well.

This said though I hope it does and I'm gonna pick it up launch day.
Marlonjb on 1 Dec '09
Definitely looking forward to this, loved Fahrenheit! Smile
FunkYellowMonkey on 1 Dec '09
i am looking forward to heavy rain probably even more than god of war 3, maybe not as much as bioshock 2, but very close. if the little prompts work well, it is going to be great.
Sinthetic on 1 Dec '09
Yeah Fahrenheit was awsome
