Assassin's Creed 3 to star Ezio

Ubisoft Montreal working on title; Game will 'follow-up' on AC2 story

Ubisoft's new Assassin's Creed game (which we're taking a punt on being AC3) will again star Italian hero Ezio, Ubisoft has confirmed - and will be created by the same studios behind AC2.

The publisher today revealed that the story of the game will be a "follow-up" to AC2.

CVG reported yesterday that Ubisoft was hard at work on a sequel, which the company is due to release before March 2011. A Christmas release is looking likely.

"We have a new Assassin's Creed that we expect will be a very high quality product that as well as an offline component will have a multiplayer component," Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said today.

"It is the same studios because it's not only one studio creating the game, but an association of studios and they are working together to make it happen."

A fellow Ubisoft spokesman then added: "The game will take place with the same hero, which is Ezio, and will follow-up the story that took place in Assassin's Creed 2."

Guillemot confirmed the game would be sold at a "full price point".

The majority of AC2 was developed by Ubisoft Montreal.

Bloody hell, even after yesterday's report, I didn't expect that!

I guess this can only be good news, although it does heighten my fears that the game will go stale, especially if there's DLC coming out and with a (relatively) small gap between AC 2 and 3.

I don't think anyone was really looking forward to playing as Desmond, where they?

super.. bring it on.

DI'PATZZI!!!

that guff where you start as a punk in a puma hoodie and go time traveling is nonsense.

would be better if it was just set in one time. would be more immersive.

but then they wouldnt have a cheap easy way of coming up with any old storyline. Rolling Eyes

im pretty sure i read elsewhere that it wouldnt be called assasins creed 3 and would be a spinoff instead.

I'm with you on this one, makes no sense considering the ending of the second game. Seem like they are trying to captialise upon something that worked once...

Well any excuse to learn more Italian i guess.

And yet it's infinitely better than what passes as a storyline in MW2. One step at a time..

i was hoping that it went to a different time and closer to now like its been going, or even be set now as you have learnd all of altiar and enzio's assassins techniques, so now desmond has the ability to be the assassin which is how it ended on AC2, even the woman speaking directly to desmond in the game set it up to now as they fled.

if its only a trilogy as ubi stated at the start i was hoping more desmond in the final game.

also i read that the new AC game was a spin off and not offically AC3. if the news above is true then im gutted, enzio was cool but i dont want to be the same charecter when you can be anybody through time. kind of spoils the point of the anubis really.

Gah, and I was really hoping we'd get to play Altair again for a short while before then being in control of his kids to face against Genghis Khan Sad (anyone who paid enough attention to AC2 should know why I'm saying that).
dark_gamer on 14 Jan '10
Sigh, just let us play as Desmond ffs. I want to kill that Doc, and go free running with guns.

I really can't imagine how AC multiplayer would work. The stealth at the heart of the gameplay works because the NPCs are fairly stupid, or at least, they're not *expecting* that guy walking towards them to have hidden blades.
G00N3R on 15 Jan '10
Also if we are to play as Ezio, seeing as he already has all of his abilities thus far, what are the developers going to add in on top?

Maybe, just maybe, this will star Ezio but he will be training up his son/daughter and that's who we will control? And in MP one person will control Ezio and the other his offspring?

Everything's kinda speculation atm though Neutral

A new Assassin's Creed game will be nothing short of amazing. Even though i think Altair is a much better character than Ezio. Maybe if there's an online Co - Op mode Altair will be a playable character?
David Macphail on 15 Jan '10
Don't think this will be Assassin's Creed 3, it wouldnt make sense to continue with Ezio. My guess is that its a spin off like the ones that were released for psp and ds; i doubt they will release a new AC one year after the last, it would be a rushed development which exists only to bring in the money and it would just be the same old with no new features. like COD...

Shocked HOLY s**t I DIDDENT EXPECT THAT COMING!playing as ezio is 1 thing but carring him on! what the f**k are they thinking!they are crazy!!! Evil or Very Mad I WONT LET THEM!!THEY ARE CrazY WHAT ARE THEY suppoST TO WRITE ABOUT HIM IS HE GONA GO TO TOILET THEN CrAP OUT DESMOND!WTF

I just finished AC2 about 20 minutes ago and read this forum to make sure I was actually done with the game. It seems like they are trying to say that Ezio found one of the sun peoples temples and no more. Now it is desmonds job to fin the rest of the temples and fulfill the prophecy. Honestly I was super confused and sorta p**sed off when the credits started rolling. I really hope there is more Desmond in AC3 and if they decide that they want to make more money and release like ten more ACs where you find one temple in each one that would be super gay. Still very confused by the ending but it's a very fun game and I can't wait for the third one

One word: Rome.

A new AC game involving ezio wont be bad cause in gamefaqs you can see ther are 2 new AC games on is Assassin's Creed II: Battle of Forli and the story is This expansion will have Ezio teaming up with Machiavelli and Caterina Sforza as they battle against the Orsi Brothers. There's more to the story, of course, as your goal is to keep a Piece of Eden from those nasty Templars. All in all, there will be six new missions and one that features the return of Leonardo's flying machine! and the other is Assassin's Creed II: The Bonfires of the Vanities in which Ezio will be returning to Florence to take on the monk Savonarola and his carde. As fellow writer Zack Islam wrote earlier this month, 'The Bonfires of the Vanitites' refers to the 'historical event, which took place in 1497, in Florence, Italy, where the burning of thousands of objects which indulged one in sinning took place, including art and books which was carried out by the supporters of the Dominican Priest Girolamo Savonarola.' and this makes sense cause ezio wont just disappear after hearing those predictions from minerva surely he will try to figure it out and maybe in AC3 you will have codex pages that will involve ezio talking about all those stuffs he discovered and one of them might also be a message for desmond but the real challenge will be making AC3 in the year 2012 mainly because AC wont be good with guns and the gun is AC2 was not a problem mainly because who cant shoot from 100 metres away and you only have 6 bullets and it takes a while to shoot and the cliffhanger was really good and i loved it. All those 6 assassins you see in the sanctuary maybe those temples can be in their countries and im guessing one of those temples might be one of the aztec temples and the pyramid cause you see a step pyramid during the ending and also when AC1 finished everyone expected it to be in desmonds time and you will have guns but instead it was in the 1400s so AC3 might be something like that
Sakib on 6 Feb '10
One thing that never made sense and i found it weird was how did desmonds ancestor altair be somewhere from the middle east and ezio from italian renaissance two completely different countries and then desmond an american
Sakib on 6 Feb '10
I think that the AC games are great and if they brought guns into them it would ruin the experience, I did like the gunpowder add on, onto the blade in AC 2 but if they brought real guns into it, it would just ruin it. I think they should make the game where you are able to get into subject 16's program and play as Adam ( if you unlocked the truth in AC2 you know what i mean), but also keep swapping to Desmond to and have a story line for him amongst it all. That would be great, but NO guns.
DEEJAYTEE on 6 Feb '10
And the multiplayer would be great if it was free roam or you could choose to do different game modes to compete with friends, like be the first to take out a target, or a game of tag but with hidden blades haha that would be mad.
