US may not have a Collector's Edition Final Fantasy XIII coming (yet), but it is getting a Special Edition 360 hardware bundle.
That's according to a "retailer training site", says Kotaku, which outed the bundle in a grey Special Edition box with nice art of the game's lead character Lightening sprawled over the front.

The bundle apparently comes with what looks like the standard version of the game, two controllers and (unfortunately) just a standard white console with a 250GB hard drive (although the listing apparently said the console would be black).
We've asked Square for confirmation. Meanwhile, we Brits have the Final Fantasy XIII Collector's Edition to look forward to, a €79,98 (about £70) box containing the game, the official soundtrack CD, an art-filled hardback book, three art prints and a 'Brand of the l'cie' decal, all packed into a branded presentation box.
Might be the worst version but based on early reviews it's the worst version of a game that's s**t anyway so I don't imagine 360 owners are going to lose a great deal of sleep over it. 360 owners got Mass Effect 2 a couple of weeks ago so they're pretty well catered for RPGwise at the moment. I've got a PS3 and a 360 so could buy either version if it was worth it but to be honest it looks like a waste of time and money. You seriously need to take your c**k out of the PS3's @rse by the way, it's getting quite sad.

FF13 is JRPG and ME2 isn't . JRPG games are never popular in USA and Europe.
What, worst version of the game because its on multiple discs? I havent seen any of these so called early reviews but from what ive read/seen theres hardly any noticable difference between 360 and PS3 versions.

Perhaps, like most developers this gen, they decided that the cost of developing a HD game on a single platform wasn't such a good idea and would put it on both so that the cost risk wasnt as great.

I’ve quite liked some Final Fantasy games that allow you to go wandering off for hours on end doing meaningless drivel in small towns filled with paedophilic fantasy fodder, but this one looks a bit…well…s**t. Pretty and all, but dull, anything that has 25 hours of FMV in it and a playtime of 80 or whatever it is really does take the biscuit.

I see that the Sony Fanboys have now dropped Final Fanatsy as a much coverted and loved franchise now that it is multi format. Personally I don't really care as long as I get to play it and all other final fantasy fans get to play it. What does it matter which system its on? ...I never got to play Panzer Dragoon Saga. I managed to get disc one that came free with a Saturn magazine- and it was awesome. Major bummer.
That game's worth a small fortune now.
As for disc swapping- I swapped a disc yesterday whilst playing Mass Effect 2, it didn't bother me because I was UTTERLY engrossed. In fact, it was lucky there was one as it reminded me I needed to eat something.

DVD still loads games and movies faster than blu-ray - simply because it doesn't have as much to search through to get the data it needs. And it's going to be that way until blu-ray drives significantly increase their read speeds.
