Killzone 3 is set to arrive in stereoscopic 3D and use Sony's motion wand - rumoured to be called 'Arc' - a source has told CVG.
According to our contact, the Guerrilla Games sequel will launch as part of a big 3D push for the PlayStation 3 this Christmas - far earlier than we expected.
While our source is unsure if the follow-up is indeed the "Sony sequel" that looks set to be unveiled tonight, we're assured that the information on the game itself is "rock solid".
Earlier this year PSM3 Magazine also went on record that Killzone 3 information would arrive in "the coming months".
Well of course we all know KZ3 was coming, hopefully its gonna be a game thats a little bit more mysterious. Such as Twisted Metal, Oddworld, or Agent, but I highly doubt it. Those are good for E3 announcements. Oddworld FTW!
I'm a little worried about this sudden infatuation with 3D. I paid a grand for a HD TV just over a year ago so I could get the best out of my games and movies, and now, with 3D being 'the new black', it's already out of date.
Better be able to play this in 2D with the joypad cos motion controle and 3D gaming does nothing for me,So if not there will be no buying this game unless it's supports for the old school gamer's like me.
The current obsession with 3d is only going to end up one way. With mothers complaining that their children have been sick all over the carpet from playing everything in 3d.

Of course you can play in 2D and with the joypad. They wouldn't go all out and require you to have a motion controller or a 3D tv. Especially with a popular franchise like KZ.

Well 3D is still a new technology and the majority of people wont be upgrading to a new tv. Maybe in a few years but as of right now 3D is just starting to grow. Personally idk what the 'new' 3D is all about. I'm going this week to see 3D Avatar to check out what all the hype is about.
As for games I'm almost certain its not a requirement but more of a feature. Same as the motion controller, I highly doubt they'll change their major franchises to require one. But if you have one it'll be a whole different experience. Mostly third party developers and new specific IP's will be built specifially for the motion controller.
Oh jeeez. The 3d I would hope(and think)you'd be able to turn off if you didn't have a 3dtv(or want to wear those stupid looking glasses - especially when you already have to wear glasses some of the time - how's that supposed to work out anyway???). I really hope the same is true for the 'wand' as if you have to play it using any sort of motion control nonsense I am sorry to say I will avoid it like the plague, which is a shame as Killzone 1 was alright and Killzone 2 was absolutely amazing.
LOOK EVERYONE COMMONSENSE >>>>>>>>>>THERES NO ANALOG STICK<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< SONYS LIES DEBUNKED WHAT WII GUNA DO GUYS HOLD A WAND IN ONE HAND AND A DUALSHOCK IN THE OTHER DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB SOUND THE DUMB ALARM IT AINT NUNCHUCK IT AINT WIIMOTE SO STOP TRYING TO SELL A LIE TO STUPID SONY FANBOYS
Idiot, thats obviously not how its going to work. This guy is so f*cking annoying and stupid. They wouldn't add this feature into a game like KZ3 if it was going to be substandard.
And I'm pretty sure if you look at a screen that has 3D running w/out the glasses, then it just looks 2D. I'm gonna test this theory when I go and see Avatar tomorrow. An on/off switch shouldn't be necessary.
All this 3D stuff makes me want to bang my head against a wall.
The way forward is proper head-tracking technology, that allows games to process head movement and alter the field of vision on-screen accordingly.
Wearing paper glasses and have everything "pop out" at you, whilst losing the crystal-clear high-definition we've all just spent £thousands on in the past couple of years is a massive step backwards.
I despair, not only will game developers be mapping controls and in-game functions to needless motion control waves, flails and arm movements, but they'll also start going out of their way to include scenese where they can throw things out of the screen at you 'in 3D', like all those 3D movies that can think of nothing else to do with this pointless technology.

Have you seen Avatar yet?? Its a different kind of 3D than you're used to. Instead of things flying out towards you the screen goes inward and adds a massive amount of depth to the game. On Avatar looking into the movie makes it feel like the screen goes 'in' forever. Its not like looking at a flat screen then something pops out at you. Its supposed to be a "new" and incredible experience.

I did see it.
And I wanted to love 3D, I really did, but I found it to be disorientating, uncomfortable to watch after a while and completely unlike how my eyes comprehend actual real life 3D objects and movement.
Not only that, definition was lost and everything looked "washed out".
lol, I haven't seen it yet, I'm going tomorrow. From what all my friends have been telling me, its amazing. I'll make sure I'm wearing the glasses correctly.
Bold move by Sony, still, There will be 3D movie releases this year on Blu-Ray (Avatar) so why not?
If it's optional then fair play. Gonna take a lot to fit it onto even a Blu-ray though surely? I'd imagine the game would have to be coded differently for 3D effects. I'm not a programmer though obviously so this is probably just my own BS speculation
It should definitely fit. The standard blu-ray can hold 50 GB of content, but they have 100 GB blu-rays if necessary. For a comparison Metro 2033 is going to be in 3D, and the dvd's that 360 uses can only hold 8.5 GB of space. So KZ3 should have no problem at all fitting on a blu-ray.
anyone else really hyped 4 Reach? (that was NOT sarcasm. it WILL beat GOW 3)
Assumption, not fact.
Okay If Reach dosn't beat GOW 3 then im stupid and shuld be crucified
According to VGchartz, In total the Halo games have sold nearly 30 million. Halo ce sold about 6. 43 million, halo 2 sold nearly 8.43 million, Halo 3 sold 11 million. ODST considered by some a subpar spinoff, managed 4.69 million.in total Halo has sold nearly 30 million units. and thats not counting halo wars.
im not sure how much "the best game ever" has sold would you care to tell me?
have some people not seen Avatar yet? The 3D effects are staggering. It's not just a case of things "popping out", it gives a full sense of 3D with a horizon line. I for one would jump at the chance of playing a 3D game on my PS3. Some people are just luddites, move on, grow some balls, get a better paid job and buy a 3DTV. Like it or not, it's here to stay. and I for one welcome it!
I think there would be plenty of room on a blu-ray to accommodate both 2d and 3d versions. It would be daft to make a sequel only for the lucky 1% (if that) who can adopt 3D TV early this year.
As long as they don't compromise on the quality of the non-3D version then what does it matter?
Killzone 2 was great... can't wait for this sequel
Oh for pity's sake. A 3D version of a game takes almost no extra space on the disk. Think about it for a minute please. To make a 3D version of Killzone, you don't have to store everything twice on the disk. You simply render each frame twice, from slightly different viewpoints, using all the same models and textures and etc. Two images, same data. So no extra space on the disk required. You might need a bit more for cutscenes if they're pre-generated as oppose to 'engine rendered' but that's all.
The problem isn't disk space, it's horsepower. You can re-use some of the calculations when rendering each frame to each eye, but you still have to do an awful lot of the work twice for each '3D frame'. If we assume Killzone 2 - given the time taken and resources used to make it - was already driving the PS3 pretty hard, I find it hard to believe they'll be able to maintain the same level of visual fidelity while having to render frames for each eye. And I doubt they'll be able to include essentially two render engines, one 'high quality but 2D' and one 'less quality but 3D'. The result of taking Killzone 3 3D is probably going to be that on a 2D TV it won't look as good as Killzone 2 does. Given the percentage of people with 3D capable TVs (i.e. next to none) it seems far to early to jump to 3D and sacrifice 2D performance as a result.

I'd probably agree if I hadn't already seen reports of GT5 running in 3D - and very well, by the sound of it.
killzone 3 3d or killzone 3d as guessing called if it looks as good as killzone 2 will be awsome using new 3d not old 3d and it will blow practically everything else away.
i know its kinda of topic but i hate the halo franchise and any chance to own it i will. avid 360 gamer dont own a ps3 now had 2 sold 2 before sont fanboy bullcrap comes flooding my way.

i do love bursting me some halo bubbles
kinda of topic but hay
Halo 3 sold 11 million of August 09. Check Games radar and VGchartz. their more reliable. In total the Halo franchise has sold 30 million if you add Wars. If you addedd DLC it would be more . The point is its probably sold more than GOW. (could somebody check)
