Platinum Games and Sega's Vanquish "isn't a regular shooting game," Resident Evil creator, Shinji Mikami has said.
Speaking in the next issue of Official Playstation Magazine, which is arriving in subscriber's hands now, Mikami says that Vanquish will be set apart from other third person shooters thanks to its focus on acrobatics and agility.
"In making Vanquish, I wanted to create a game that was speedier and more acrobatic than other shooters," he said. "It's a brand new kind of shooting game that's incredibly tense."
The acrobatics are courtesy of the protagonist's rocket powered suit, allowing him to propel himself into battle and kick some face before zipping back out again.
Mikami adds: "I wanted to make a shooter where the player is active - taking people on. I didn't want the game to be like other third-person action titles, where people are just trying to survive, taking pot-shots at enemies from behind cover. So it is this aggression and active spirit that I wanted to capture with Vanquish"
Another acrobatic shooter that mikami made for the Cube.
I loved that game. I forget how many times I have completed it.Must have been dozens though just to get all her suits maxed out. The bosses where fantastic (as well as her tight buns!).
