The Hanabi Festival begins on Virtual Console this week with two old games being released for the first time in the UK - Lode Runner and Ironclad. Elsewhere you can download Military Madness: Nectaris for WiiWare plus Pop Island, Elemental Masters, Simply Mahjong, Simply Sudoku and 4 Travellers: Play Spanish on DSiWare.
Lode Runner (Virtual Console: Hudson, 600 Points was originally released for the Famicom in 1984, coming to the NES in the US two years later. It was based on an old Apple II game in which players controlled a man who must collect all the gold in a level while avoiding guards.
Ironclad (Virtual Console: D4 Enterprise, 1000 Points) came out in 1996 for NeoGeo It's a side-scrolling shoot 'em up.
Military Madness Nectaris (WiiWare: Hudson, 1000 Wii Points) is a 3D remake of a 1998 PlayStation turn-based strategy game. New units and online co-op and competitive multiplayer modes for up to four players have been added for this new version.
Pop Island (DSiWare: Odenis Studio, 500 Points) is a multi-player capture the flag game which stars strange animals such as surfing penguins, flying fish and a waterskiing crocodiles.
Elemental Masters (DSiWare: ibxgames, 800 Points) is a fantasy card game featuring elements of adventure, strategy and role-playing. Players choose their character before building up an army in their card decks and fighting the mystical creatures of Elendior.
There's no explanation needed for Simply Mahjong (DSiWare: Engine Software, 200 Points) and Simply Sudoku (DSiWare: Engine Software, 200 Points while 4 Travellers - Play Spanish (DSiWare: Agenius Interactive, 800 Points) is a language learning tool.
