A sordid night of pleasure involving Q from the 007 films and Optimus Prime from the Transformers cartoon has borne a lovechild that acts as your vehicle in Spy Hunter – a bulletproof shape-shifting super-car that can morph into a mean speedboat and a stupidly quick motorbike, ideal for the high-impact espionage missions that fill Midway's slick remake of the '80s coin-op original.
It might be gimmicky, but if you love the smell of petrol, go weak at the knees for breakneck arcade racers and dig the idea of dropping smokescreens, taking out helicopters with missiles, destroying gangs of enemy bikers and killing innocent chickens, Spy Hunter offers an instant, brainless thrill. The handling of the vehicles is so easy to pick up that you'll feel at one with the driving action from the moment you enter your first mission.

So if you missed it first time around on PlayStation 2, have just splashed out on Ninty's new magic box and are looking to get your hands on a cool racer other than Burnout, Spy Hunter's simple arcade action should fit the bill pretty much perfectly.
