Last year's mutton dressed as this year's lamb

Despite having reviewed a fair few F1 games in our time, we were really excited about F1 2002 on Xbox. There was the promise of the 'EA cards' system where you unlock new challenges by beating set goals. And a tantalising and brand new 'slingshot' gameplay mechanic where you follow in the wake of another car to help make overtaking easier. So why does F1 2002 on Xbox have none of these features when the PS2 version boasts them all?

SNEAKY CHEEKY EA
Has EA simply repackaged and rebranded its US launch Xbox F1 2001 game in a bid to palm it off as an all-new experience? Maybe. Certainly, the PS2 and Xbox versions of F1 2002 are not the same game. Disappointment aside, F1 2002 is an authentic racing simulation that's big on realism and detail, but which simply isn't that much fun to play. There are far better driving games out there. Very average.
