Everyone loves the nightlife, but this is ridiculous. Warring vampire clans are turning after hours sport into a bloodbath. Meanwhile, all of mankind cowers in fear, mothers everywhere hide their children, and as for half-undead champion, Blade? He's just buggered off, as per usual.
Though based on events that take place in the film, the plotline here expands upon existing lore. You can expect new enemies to crop up, especially considering the numerous undead brotherhoods that are busy harvesting humankind. Also expect guest appearances by featured foes – The Reaper's a given.
Seems a bit of a ruckus is brewing in the supernatural community, and players are charged with setting things straight, no matter that 30-plus fanged foes may jump you at any moment.
Never mind the lengthy introductory scenes, where comrade Whistler passes along mission information – this title isn't really one for words. Actions speak louder, with close-quarters combat paramount, though it's reinforced with signature weaponry such as machine-guns and swords. The payoff for staking baddies, gunning them down, or beating them into a bloody pulp? Those snazzy disintegrations you loved in the movie.
Packing a pistol, shotgun, or special powers like sword swipes, shields and vampiric strength gained through battle, you'll paint the town red with gore. Environmental puzzles challenge, though mostly gameplay involves frantic firefights or free-for-all brawls. Despite being billed as an action-adventure, the focus rests firmly in the former camp. It's certainly got all the blockbuster elements, but we'll find out in the coming months if Blade II can cut it as a game.
