New Legends Review

Making the Xbox look weak
Making the Xbox look weak

Witness the gargantuan power of Xbox when you play New Legends. Oops, wrong game. That should have been Halo. The sorry truth is that if New Legends makes Xbox look as powerful as a knackered old sewing machine. Are we being a little harsh? Maybe. But see it up and running and witness the sparce, blocky, characterless environments and pony-looking, puny character models – then you'll understand what we're talking about.

An objective-based Oriental-style action adventure, New Legends sees you taking control of a combat whiz called Sun Soo and kicking the arses on tons of ninja-like attackers.

Sounds okay? Problem is, your confrontations and battles become painfully repetitive in a very short space of time. And although the weapons system is quite cool, enabling you to use two at once ŕ la Dante in Devil May Cry, New Legends lacks any of the same stylish visual panache to carry this feature off with any success.

The missions are very basic and straightforward, with no real need for strategy or tactics. So unless you're a sadist and get a kick out of being disappointed, steer well clear.
