The Inoa people are in trouble. A harsh King has passed a decree outlawing their religion, and strange things are happening in their village. Their only hope lies in a legend that says the Elna people from far away may possess the power to save them. In a distant land, Alundra is troubled by visions that tell him to sail to Inoa.
So begins Alundra, a Japanese RPG with a classic plan view perspective. The dungeons, platforms and puzzle structure is inspired by Nintendo's Zelda and many of Climax's earlier works; Landstalker, ladystalker Dark Saviour. They are past masters in the development of gripping plots and addictive game dynamics.
The graphics are gorgeous, with a loving amount of detail, but the perspective and colouring may give them a dated, 16-bit feel.
The game is split between adventuring sections set in numerous dungeons, 'dreams' which are in effect mazes, and the relative safety of settlements where information is gained and items acquired. New characters are met and equipment and weapons found which let you progress.
