Recreating Rocky's class cinematic boxing scenes was never going to be very easy in a videogame, but the boys at Rage have had a pretty good go.

Here you get to follow The Italian Stallion's path to heavy-weight boxing success, starting as the clueless bruiser in Rocky I all the way through to the experienced pugilist from Rocky IV.

To play, it's like most other boxing games - the fighting system is basic and very different from the Tekkens of this world. Although there are combos to master and punches to throw, there's your fighter's stamina to consider. Miss too many punches and he'll get tired, leaving you prone to a counterattack. Thing is, you still cannot help but mash the buttons which, while unlikely to win you the championship, does have surprisingly effective results. Good, but not essential.

It's an enjoyable enough effort, but lacks responsiveness and hurts your forearm too much to be a truly great game.
