Crimson Sea Review

Pure bloody slaughter

If variety is the spice of life then Crimson Sea is the videogame equivalent of falling into a giant silo filled with exotic seasonings from around the world and sneezing yourself to death. Merging a whole bunch of high-octane action styles, Crimson Sea is an original and zesty Xbox shooter that lets you tear through literally thousands of enemy bug-like critters called Mutons.

YO' MAMA'S A MUTON
The various level challenges range from slaying certain amounts of enemies to collecting the required quota of energy cells so that you can detect cunning enemies disguised as humans with your crazy radar skills. But whatever the challenge, the action is always fast, frantic and with an emphasis on pure shooting and mass Muton murder. Amazingly intricate weapons upgrades become available as you play, and as you recruit new fighters for your cause you can use them in battle, issuing them commands so they fight by your side.

Crimson Sea is a winning mix of playing styles and insane shooting action, and only a lack of graphical wow-factor and a weird stuck-to-the-hero's-back viewpoint put dampeners on the otherwise top-notch action.
