Hosin' around - Konami announces firefighter game

The life of a fireman isn't all sitting around playing cards and taking advantage of grateful female rescuees. Nope, in Konami's imagining of the life of a firefighter, it's exciting, dangerous, and at times pretty bleak - even if the central gameplay dynamic appears to have been lifted from the none more gritty Super Mario Sunshine.

Taking place across an urban city, Firefighter F.D 18 concerns itself with the fates of fireman Dean McGregor and reporter Emilie Arquette as the two battle to save the city, and get to the source of the random fires that have been erupting with disconcerting regularity all over the freakin' place.

The game is set for a February 2004 release in the US, though there's no confirmation of a UK release as of yet - a shame, because Firefighter F.D.18 looks an enjoyably quirky adventure. We'll keep you posted.
