For most of us, extreme sports are best watched and played from the safety of a comfy chair. Experts like Shaun Murray may make soaring through the air and turning tricks on a midget waterski seem like a piece of soggy cake, but you still get the feeling they've paid a heavy price in broken bones and bruises.
This is why Wakeboarding Unleashed has the distinct advantage over reality. All gain, no pain - unless you count a sore thumb as an injury.
Wet works If you've played any of the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games, you'll be familiar with the set-up of Wakeboarding Unleashed. Twelve exotic locations to unlock, consisting of a variety of Challenges and Groove Objectives.
Strangely, despite being tethered to the speed boat by a rope, you'll feel much freer than you ever did in Pro Skater. Instead of grinding rails and ollying off curbs you get to boardslide on bayou shacks and water-spin alongside curious dolphins, all at a breathless breakneck pace.
As cool as Shaun Murray and his high-flying cohorts are, the real star of this game is the water. Whether it be the crystal clear blue ocean of Florida or the murky, muddy depths of flooded Springfield town, you'll never tire of swooshing and sploshing around the waterways. Could well be the most successful X-game since Tony taught us how to bump and grind.
